Just watched Casablanca for the first time in awhile.

Today’s movies just aren’t near the same quality as the old movies.

I point out to my students that Casablanca is one of the greatest film love stories during which noone got naked.

I’m glad to hear that. Good to know someone is passing their knowledge to the next generation!

Just finished watching "The Longest Day"

John Wayne and many others in bit parts but all heavy.

Not at all a fan of the Nazi anything , but did enjoy how it was portrayed very well, how the mistakes German officers made, helped the cause of the main attack on Normandy.

Double Indemnity is probably the oldest movie I've watched. I generally don't watch anything made before the 70s.

It was pretty good.

I invoke my right under the 5th amendment of the United States constitution and decline to answer the question.

I guess the earliest talking movie I've watched has been The Cocoanuts with the Marx Brothers. That was 1929. I think the best really old talkie is the original King Kong (1933). I'll watch that any time I see it's on.

I agree about Double Indemnity.

I love those crime noir films as well.

TCM showing Oscar award winners all month. So far I've seen The Lost Weekend, Wait Until Dark and The Third Man and The French Connection which I've seen before but always like it.

Dues never saw Lost Weekend??..& the Third Man has 1 of the greatest weird guitar tracks of all time not 2 mention my wife's obsession of constant reminding that it is Orson Welles that is the culprit(alas.spoilor alert)…..".Wait" is also great..but ..Gio..must love also Double Indemnity w/ Barbara (yum) Stanyck ..always loved her in her prime..so hot..god forbid when I was a kid, if she showed a little bit of leg ,I was glued 2 the tv set..always wondering what was further up that skirt..

I agree Hood. Barbara Stanwyk is a smoke show. I think Double Indemnity is the only thing I can remember seeing her in. I guess because I've seen it a lot. One of the best noir films ever made.

Watching "Lifeboat" w/ William Bendix & Tallulah Bankhead....TCM..very engaging film..young ppl oughta watch this flick 2 c how the human mind works when treachery sets in...a fine example of desperate measures in human psyhcology ..not 2 mention that Bankhead was a classy creamy dish back then..they don't make them like that anymore...Hume Cronyn also starred & Hitchcock directed.

It has been years since I’ve seen that movie. If I recall, isn’t that the movie where in true Hitchcock style, where he made a brief appearance and most of his films, there’s a newspaper floating in the water that happens they have Alfred Hitchcock‘s picture on it? 😂

Saw "Mighty Joe Young" after work last night & am I the only 1 who thinks it is spectacular & maybe superior to King Kong...the effects r more realistic..in the nightclub , the drunken gorilla throws a lion all the way across the room & the lion flies into a dining table for 4 & gets right back up after sliding a few feet just like a cat would. Fantastic.
