blue,

These pics just say it all when it comes to the class of the old wiseguys.

Frank Costello for president...of the universe.

I didn't recognize Giancana in that pic either. Didn't Giancana get a little scruffy in his later years like a typical '70's guy?

I searched "Sam Giancana, Mexico" on google images and came up with this dandy.

@Oak: of course, Chin and Genovese, thanks!
@binnie: iam also somewhat puzzled on that giancana/adonis thing, thought maybe our guys can identify "giancana" to 100% - my best guess would be willie moretti
@toodoped: i also wasnt sure on the fischettis.. but since sinatra still looks like 20-something i thought it could be for real.. any ideas who those guys are?

Interesting.. thank you for that, Binnie. As much as I hate cops, Ralph is a respectable dude.

You can see in those pics that guys like Accardo, Capone and Acceturo were physically strong guys in their 20's and 30's..

Accardo and Costello have charm and seem approachable. That Genovese, he seems like he's always up to something even when he's smiling.

EDIT

I found the photo and here is what is written:
Gambler Joe Adonis smiles as he prepares to enter a car taking him to federal building from state prison in Trenton, N. J., July 16, 1953, after serving almost 26 months on a gambling sentence. (AP Photo)

in the book "Havana nocturne" it talks about the meet in 1946 I believe when lucciano came over from Italy, lucciano always hated vito, never trusted him, in the book it says lucciano beat up vito in a hotel room, another book." the last testament of lucky lucciano" the same thing is related, vito was a real snake to those who knew him, and unlike other dons, vito would kill at the drop of a hat.

As for the Fischetti's...

Rocco is second from the right

The knee high athletic socks. They might have been mobsters, but they were living in the '80s like everyone else.

Milwaukee Phil Alderisio. I'm reading American Mafioso, the Johnny Roselli book, right now. When the middle men in the Vegas skim became a pain in the ass, Milwaukee Phil was the one they sent out to remind them that they don't give out pink slips.

These are from an article about Casino. I've researched this movie (and the real life characters its based on) a lot over the years, and haven't seen some of these. Sorry if they've been posted.

Tony Spilotro and Oscar Goodman

Michael Spilotro, Tony's brother

Gerri Mcgee, basis for Sharon Stone in Casino

Actor Phillip Suriano, playing Dominic Santoro, getting made up for his big scene.
