This was on the news today.

What people don't know that there is a school in Germany named after her. My Grandson Henry will be attending in September.

First: That's interesting to see a German school name after her and when that happen?

Second: That's Harriet Tubman!!!

Excuse me got a little confused. I noticed Tubman carried a gun. You think she would want to end the second amendment?

I think it's a great idea, and a great person to use...but why?

I understand changing the design of currency to improve it's security features, but why change the personalities displayed on the money?

What is a rationale given?

It's a stupid idea. Nobody but some shrill interest group was asking for it. OK, so now they got a black woman on a bill. How long before others want some gay or transgender to be on another one? rolleyes

Harriet Tubman from what I understand was one of the principal underground railroad people who guided escape slaves to Canada and freedom. Correct me if I am wrong.

Most if not all of the personalities presently displayed on American money have something to do with the founding of America.

Now while being a rebel that guided human beings to safety is noble and commendable, I don't see her place on American money for her actions. Her actions while heroic did not do anything to help establish the United States.

On the other hand, it's great to see official recognition, respect, and honor towards a member of a very disrespected and discouraged minority group.

Always thought it should be heads state or a founding father but I don't really care who's on the currency just posted this for another perspective.

Your correct and actually she would later become a spy for the Union. Therefore being one of the many principles to shape out country down the road.

I still don't know why they want to change the face.

That's how I am Black, Tubman should be commended for what she done. Lord knows she saved a shitload of lives, but when we already owe enough money to countries like China, why spend money we don't have changing faces on our money? No telling how much this will cost to get all the 20's out of circulation and to print the new 20's. I admit I was no fan of Jackson either, he was a dirty bastard who hated the Indian's as well as Blacks, I live just a few miles from where he made his march of destruction on the Creek Indian's here in Alabama. He slaughtered them.

I am 1/16 Cherokee (supposedly enough to get tax breaks but who gets that shit?) and he was apart of taking 32 million acres of land from our families and others (of course that benefited my White lineage).

So safe to say I despise him as well, but I still don't see the need to get his crusty looking ass off the 20.

I was one of those who contacted the United States Treasury to leave Hamilton alone and get rid of Jackson, and I also supported Harriet Tubman as his replacement. Jackson, the founder of the modern Democratic Party, was known as a slaver, a racist, a warmonger and a general bully who was responsible for the Trail of Tears that forced Native Americans to march from the southeast United States to what is now Oklahoma, causing about 10,000 Native deaths. Harriet Tubman, on the other hand, was an escaped slave who saved the lives of over a hundred slaves by risking her own and despite a lifelong injury from a beating; she was an abolitionist and encouraged President Abraham Lincoln to abolish slavery; worked as a cook and a nurse for the Union Army during the Civil War; pushed for the right for women to vote; and was a Christian active in the AME church. If anyone deserves to be on the $20 bill, it's her.

We don't need to start changing our money to make lame political statements, which all this is. In addition to what I said above about some eventually pushing for some gay or transgender on a bill, how long before people want Washington or Jefferson off bills and coins because they owned slaves? It's stupid all the way around.

All changes to our money have been political statements. Always has been. Before we had Lincoln on our pennies we had Native Americans. Before Jefferson was on our nickels we had buffaloes. Before Franklin Roosevelt was on our dimes it was lady liberty. It's a normal process and it's not new.

But are these changes really necessary? Virtually nobody was asking for them. And, as I said, where will it end?

I hear they're going to put Trayvon Martin's face on bags of Skittles starting in June.

I invoke my right under the 5th amendment of the United States constitution and decline to answer the question.

There's rumors Thomas Jefferson was gay. Why do you think they put him on the $2 bill?

Rushmore? Honestly, I get the significance. But does anyone go there, other than retired white people in their RV's?

Trayvon Martin really was a victim. He was just walking and was followed by a nobody with a gun because he was black. I know this for a lot of reasons. What happen to Martin happen to me when I was a kid and I am not black.

Martin saw the guy following him and got pissed. So they probably exchanged words and got into a fight. Martin pushed the nobody down his head hit the curb. Martin was not going to kill him. But the nobody was losing, and he had a gun. I can tell you this from experience as well you got a gun and your getting hurt you will use your gun. That is how Trayvon got dead.

After the cops came and saw that the nobodies face was all fucked up. They assumed that the nobody was fighting for his life.

Bull shit they also found the back of his head cut.

Get hit in the back of your head hard your face and eyes go black. Later when they checked out the nobody's face they found no actually damage to his face. But they got pictures of his face right after.

You can believe that or not. I am pretty sure how that went down that night.

So if someone is following you that gives you justification to attack them, knock them to the ground and start smashing their head into concrete ?

Sorry bud, real life isn't Grand Theft Auto, doing things like that will likely get you shot or arrested.

When I was a kid I was being followed. They confronted me evidently I resembled someone who robbed a store. They wanted to take to the store so the lady could identify me. I made up my mind to attack those guys, but I wanted to see the women who said I robbed her store. I did not rob her store.

I hope one day you get picked up for a crime you did not do by civilians right off the street. See how happy that will make you feel.

So I go with them these punks ask her if I was the one. I look her in the eyes and say yes did I rob your store. She said no I got no I'm I am sorry by any of them.

I made like I was leaving and jumped both of them right in her store. I should of taken their money off them. Then I told them something if they called the cops and left.

I should have robbed her story later. But I did not because I did not think about it.

Treyvon a victim? Give me a break. He was a thug. And if he hadn't acted like one he'd probably still be alive.

It's likely Zimmerman's pear shaped, typical neighborhood watchman physique carried his momentum toward the ground.

Zimmerman he was a mixed nationality right. He was not a cop so what was he a security guard or just a nobody with a gun. What was his real job?

I guess you guys don't know this blacks and Hispanics don't like each other normally. Maybe that is why Zimmerman had the urge to follow him.

On the other hand I like everyone especially if they work cheap.

Stay on topic or it will get off track into other discussions that have already been spoken. Some people will hold on to their opinions regardless of the scenario.

This might have already been said but not all the faces on the money was presidents.

They should put Prince on the $20 bill and call it $19.99... It's the bill formerly known as a twenty!
