It's pretty fun. I haven't played pt2 yet.

I'm at "You better get used to it - service station"

can't seem to get past the shooters, I kinda suck at computer games, with the whole mouse/arrow key deal. I'll beat it, I just lose a few times, get pissed and turn it off/do something else...just need to keep at it.

I enjoyed it at the time, I don't care for it that much anymore. The second Mafia is awesome though, I just wish there were more free roam options. Other than that, great characters, great story, and great missions.

I aslo enjoyed The Godfather game. The only featurd on there I liked more than Mafia II was you could customize your character. Still haven't played the second game.

I forgot to mention I only played the PS2 version of the game which I heard wasn't as good as the PC game.

I used to play this as a kid and it's a very nostalgic game for me, although I haven't played it in a while.

Great game. Possibly my favourite video game of all time. Freeroaming isn't that great and it's pointless because there isn't much to do at all. Yes, PS2 version isn't supposed to be very good but the PC version is wonderful and in the PS2 version I think there's even less to do freeroaming! Haven't played it in a few years but I'm sure the graphics are still just fine. The last time I played it was on my old computer modding it and there's some great mods for it.

I've beaten this game like 6 or 7 times, PC version, and it was a truly fantastic game at the time. I haven't played it in a number of years, despite recently discovering the install discs for it, but one of my favorite games ever.

And yes, There are some epic mods for it.

Awesome game. For its time it was epic and the story is really good. Great atmosphere and everything. Got me get into Django Reinhardt and i'd say Mafia 2 was awesome as well but it was released in 2010. We'd seen Red Dead Redemption and GTA IV show how open world games should be done and it wasn't quite as satisfying because it was in the same mold as the first game. Hopefully they read the criticism and make the next game a bit more open. Needs to be set either in the 60s/70s or the 20s/30s again but this time that era should be done justice.

Real good game and a pretty solid story, even by Hollywood standards. I also really enjoyed Mafia II, though most reviewers gave it around 7/10. I truly found Vito's story to be pretty great and being set in the late 40s early 50s, that was just brilliant, though the families are fictional you can tell where they got the inspiration.
For example Albert Clemente is clearly based on Anastasia.

-I shot him a coupla' times.
-What's a couple?
-Hmm, more than a couple... Really I don't know the exact amount, maybe I shot him 10 times, 12 times?
-Maybe fifteen?
-Hmm, it could've been fifteen...
