What's better, Geno's or Pat's?

Can you get a good cheesesteak outside Philly?

Are they even really that nice?

Cheez whiz? Really?

I invoke my right under the 5th amendment of the United States constitution and decline to answer the question.

I like Pat's better than Gino's. But Ishkabibbles on South Street or Steaks on South have steaks just as good if not better. Do not go to Jim's way over hyped. Who the hell want's to wait on line for 45 to an hour for a steak.

I've only been to Philly a few times so of course I started with the big names. I liked Genos a little better than Pats. Both were good and I still get one of each when I'm there. I think the meat at Genos was better. I've also had Tony Luke's and that's third place. I'll have to try and find some time to try the smaller places or maybe just skip my side trip to Passyunk altogether.

Never ate in Philly, but a few years ago was up in Buffalo and visiting a buddy who was going to Philly twice a month on business. They have a restaurant in Buffalo called the "Steakout" and their specialty is Philly cheesesteaks. He bought us some and they were really good. He said they are exactly like those in Philly which he ate twice a month.

Best Philly cheesesteak I ever had was at a place called ch*nk's in northeast Philly. last time I was there it had a new name, but still served the best cheesesteak ever.

my favorite at the moment is Dalessandros in Roxborough. a few years ago I kept the best of list in my car & me and my boyfriend (I'm a girl btw) tried to go to everyplace on the list, but that turned out to be more difficult to do than we thought. some of the smaller no name places in Delaware County turned out to be pretty good tho.

A place opened up here in Toronto called I Went to Philly or something like that. The cheesesteak wasn't too, too bad.

Never been to Geno or Pat's. They're pretty much across the street from one another if I remember right. Would like to try both out when I'm in Philly.

Philip's Steaks in South Philly is the best hands down and its owned by Phil Narducci (Philly LCN). There's also never any tourists there....

Donkey's in Camden is fantastic, and it's done a little differently. It is also a little like travelling back in time to see what Camden was once like.

To answer the original question, Pat's beats Geno's, but I'm surprised nobody has mentioned John's Roast Pork on Snyder. Hands down the best sandwiches in town...roasted pork shaved thin and juicy, sharp provolone, broccoli rabe, etc. DiNic's is a close second. And John's cheesesteak is almost as good. It all starts with the roll.

Just took a quick trip to Philly. Stopped off at Philips, was pretty damn good. I like the sliced steak instead of the ground steak which is how they do a steak & cheese in Boston.

Also hit DiNic's for pork & broccoli rabe, the pork and rabe were great but I can't lie the best part was the bread man. I'll definitely be stopping by DiNic's to try everything else eventually.

Gets, that Billy Bob's place wasn't around. I was staying around 52nd and Spruce so I made a point to pass by.

Rollin,

How did you enjoy Philly? Never heard of a good cheesesteak place ever closing down out there. What did they replace it with? another WaWa?

Phillys a dope town man. Dirty as hell though. I also thought Boston had a lot of addicts around but Philly is really crazy when it comes to the dope. Guess that's just the whole East Coast these days.

On that corner there was a cafe and some other shit I can't recall but no cheesesteak joint. That area seems to be going through gentrification (unfortunately I feel like Philly is about to get hit hard by gentrification) and you know transplants mostly enjoy hipster shit instead of the things that make cities unique in the first place.

Hood!

What’s the deal?

Is it Ginos, Pats or Steve’s?

Which is the Best?

Why , u plannin' a visit Dues??...2 answer the ? IMO....either Tony Lukes or John's roast pork stand on Oregan ..here in the N.E. philly , Steve's prince of steaks...Ginos & Pat's is strictly 4 tourists..DiNics in the Reading Terminal is a great sandwich also..sometimes ur old corner mom & pop shop where u grew up might b a fav...depends on where u grew up..the roll... the meat & how they chop or mince (eww) it..alot of factors go into a great steak sandwich..an age old ? that will keep on being debated throughout the generations.
