Well, if you're an android person and looking for a big screen, the Galaxy Note is going to be even bigger than the iPhone 6 Plus. But how big can you really go without it turning into a tablet?

Yea some are just too damn big and are getting almost the size of a tablet. My LG G2 is like 5.2" and I really don't care to get any bigger. It's perfect to read stuff on it when traveling and can still fit in my pocket with no problems. I couldn't imagine going bigger with any phone honestly. I'll either stick with LG or go to Samsung when my time is up. (LG came out with a G3 but I hear it is not as good as the G2)

I've been meaning to put this up for awhile now but keep forgetting. I bought the 6 in December. Since I'm a phone dropper and always on the move I need a heavy duty case so I bought the Pelican Voyager and Luv it luv it luv it...

I bought my cousin one for his 5 and he loves it too.

Personally, I try not to fall into the vicious cycle of upgrading every single year. But the changes from the 5 to the 6 seem to be significant, and the idea of that plus size screen and almost paper thin body are very appealing, so I'm giving it some thought.

I know Geoffy is a big Apple guy. What do you think, buddy?

I used to hate the idea of a contract. Now, 4 cell phones later, bought and paid for, and completely obsolete, I now see the value in being about to trade in and trade up.

I'm not into "Phablets", they're too big. My phone of choice is iPhone 5S. The right size, the right look, the right power. Get the one you want. But if you buy it outright, then you have to unload some outdated swag. wink

What's hysterical is, for twenty years they poured billions of dollars into developing cell phones that got smaller and smaller, and now they're making them bigger and bigger. The new Nexus is six inches. Tablets start at seven. It's ridiculous. My thinking is, I'm almost better off keeping my tablet with me at all times and going back to a small clamshell phone. I know I'm old and cranky, but I doubt I'm alone in feeling this way.

Oldie but goodie I agree with you. I always liked the little flip phones.
They should just sell a lil mini sized flip phone to hang up on the side or top of a tablet to use for strictly talking nothing else. When not in use it stays hooked onto the tablet charging.

Hey I had that phone it was heavy. What year was that 97?

I got my first phone in 95. Back then you either picked LA Cellular or PacBell. I chose LA Cellular (which is now AT&T) cuz you could get reception in and around Vegas since I always ventured that way.

lol How long was the battery life? 2 hrs ha ha. If you forgot your charger you were f'd. I remember having it plugged into my car charger to talk hardly ever remember not having it connected.

My friend had a cell phone back in 1990 now that thing was HUGE lol. My home cordless phone was smaller than that one.

To correct myself above: I think it was AirTouch vs. LA Cellular something like that.

I got my first cell phone in 1989, a few years before they became the norm. It was a Motorola about the size of a VHS tape, but a little narrower. By '93, or '94 the smaller flip phones were starting to become popular, and by the mid or late '90s the Motorola StarTAC seemed so far out that it may as well have come off the USS Enterprise. We've come a long way since Maxwell Smart and his shoe phone (which to a grade school kid in the '60s was just about the coolest thing ever).

Yes those Motorolas in the '90's were huge. You could even get the extended battery which made it even bigger. Everyone carried it in their back pocket. it was definitely the size of a brick with an antenna sticking out of it. The nextels were the best and my favorite. I don't know what happened to that technology. it always worked.

lol The size of a VHS tape no joke. I'm picturing you with a pager maybe even two pagers on u and ur phone constantly attached to your ear cuz back then you only had a phone for one reason, to conduct business. What was reception like in the city? Could you even get good reception there?

I grew up watching the Jetsons. So much of the tech on that show is in use today. It's almost unbelievable.

Over here in OC & LA I don't think anyone put it in their back pocket they held it to show that they had a phone and you didn't.

My friend had to keep an extra battery with her at all times. We were 19 driving all around OC, Hollyweird, and LA so it was good we had a phone.

What ever did happen to Nextel?

If you did that in the Bronx back then, you'd be the one without the phone, in about five minutes. No joke lol.

That's the phone, Mark! lol

But I made my first trip to Florida as a little kid in the '60s, pre-Disney. My grandparents had a place in Palm Beach County at the time. But if you were a kid back then (and again, this is before the arrival of Mickey, Goofy and Snow White), all you wanted to see in Florida was Cape Kennedy and Sea World, which were both up north.

My Dad would rent a car, and we'd make the drive up every time. We'd stay in one of those funky old motels on A1A, pick up a rubber alligator and one of those little plastic orange juice squeeze things (that never really worked), and it seemed great. Today a kid would be bored to tears, but we liked it fine smile.

I remember those orange juice squeeze things, pb! When you brought those back up north and used them over and over again, it was a message to your pals; "Fuck you. I went to Florida and you didn't!" lol

And prior to the tanning booth generation (and the kids on "Jersey Shore" can't even be blamed because they weren't even born yet when those things came out in the '80s), so was the suntan. The February tan was the ultimate status symbol back then. Just think of Cliff Clavin going on and on about his Florida tan on "Cheers," and multiply the obnoxiousness by a hundred.

Oh, yeah! The winter tan thing. My buddy I grew up with was a pollack and his folks were loaded. Every year over the Christmas Holidays they would go out to either California, Florida or Las Vegas for a couple weeks and come back "tanned". He would be all Cliff Clavin about it until one of the girls in CCD class asked him if I went along with him. He was not very happy.

My grandfather was from Palermo and he passed a long that year round "dark Dago" thing. lol

My pollack pal strutted through the halls of St. Dominick's a bit more humbled! lol

Edit: Apologies for the off topic posts, guys. It's all pizzaboy's fault! He gets me wound up and we go off the charts.
