I don't know, im pretty sure thats an Italian name, yet he was meant to be Irish and quite clearly very loosely based on Whitey Bulger am i right ? The feds protection etc.

Well I know Frank Costello in real life adopted the Irish name Costello, so I just thought it was weird that the name was used in The Departed.

Good point, heres a cool link on the Costello name, your right about its Irish descent. Strange that it has an Italian appearance, id have thought it was Italian myself.
