The "open contract" is mostly urban legend and a product of FBI and media hype and misinformation.
It is in fact against LCN rules going back to the 1930s

Can you produce a quote from the FBI saying they sent out misinformation, this is the third time i have asked you this. Once more then i'd need to assume that you're avoiding the question.

Just a couple of many examples

https://eslkevin.wordpress.com/2012/12/1...-outright-lies/

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/COINTELPRO

http://disinfo.com/tag/fbi/

But lets talk about there LCN misinformation

A sworn Government witness gave the names of 60 made guys in the Chicago Outfit. A short time later, they contradicted the testimony of their OWN government witness and puts that there are 28 members on their web site

The FBI on their website claims the Rockford family is "extinct"
A few weeks later they name a boss
When the boss dies, again they declare the family extinct
Months later, they name a new boss
When he dies, they claim he was not the boss, but a Chicago associate, and the family is extinct
Late in 2012....wait for it....they name a new boss of a family they declared extinct 3 times in the past decade..LOL

How much was the contract for that was put on Pistone's head?
At the time when his double-agentry was revealed, there was a $500,000 contract on Joe Pistone's head, according to FBI informants.
Only Problem" LCN rules strictly prohibit paying made members or associates fro hits, and the murder of federal agents EVER

Is that enough or do you need more?

carmine persico is not known for giving a single fuck for rules, right? I must say, i believe guilani when he said there were a contract on his head. Instead of Pistone, i think this guy is more LCN as he thinks, i don't believe to much was he said and he is not that smart i guess. He even believes up this day that fat tony was the boss in the 80's as they convicted him in the commission trial. well, what i#ve read, he was a boss. but a frontboss not the official boss..right?

The killing of Willie Moretti in NJ in the 50s was an open contract according to the Valachi Papers. He was in the Genovese Family, but killed by an Anastasia family guy. There is another story which I can't find confirmation of anywhere, where Vito Genovese said some associates who shot at a made guy should be killed "on the spot" if anyone saw them.
I don't think they pay for hits. None of the rats have said anybody paid them for doing "work". And if you did carry out a contract, how would you collect? What would you do if they didn't pay?

Exactly..."killed on the spot" happens, but when you talk about "open contracts" money is always implied.
There are the Mad dog Sullivans of the world who were killers for hire, but to either accept or pay a made guy for a hit is a commission actionable offense

Nick Caramandi said it best when he said "theres no such thing as getting paid to do a hit."

A made man does not get paid to do a hit, but might get some benefits such as say he was kicking up 30% of his take to his capo, it might now be 25% instead, or he gets a piece of some action latter down the road, or gets bumped up, if an associate does the contract, then he might become a made man, but it depends on who the target is. Open Contract means any family or member of a certain family can kill the target, instead of a designated hitter. If there is money involved, then good luck to anyone outside LCN.

Misinformation like this really grinds my beans.... Thearm doesn't have a clue. Anyone can collect on an open contract, you just have to touch base before you make your move, and hammer out the details or you may not get reimbursed for your "work".
