What happened with him between 81 when his father was killwd and 85. I know he was popped on weapons charges in early 85 right beokefore the msion case broke. Was he hiding the whole time or was he welcomed back.

Well he tried to hit Gotti on the freeway but Angelo Ruggerio (who was driving) managed to swerve in time to avoid the bullets

The reason I ask is I was reading a newspaper article on google archives from early '85 which says something to the extent of "Recently has been spotted in New Jersey", an article from the next week has him arrested on gun charges, than in November he was added to the commission case, so I was just wondering what he was doing all that time, ill look up the articles and post them when I find them.

Anyone else think he's a dead ringer for JFK and Rob Lowe in that second picture?

I invoke my right under the 5th amendment of the United States constitution and decline to answer the question.

Is that Gotti story true? Never heard that before.. And good call on the Rob Lowe lookalike! But I'm not seeing JFK, maybe JFK Jr. I always hated Bruno's portrayal in Donnie Brasco, when he makes fun of Donnie's mustache and blows a kiss it's creepy... But again it's just a movie so who know how accurate it was.

How come Bruno wasn't higher stature in the Bonnanos when he was first out of prison in the late 90s, before he began running with Basciano, which led to his downfall again?

I think massino would have promoted him but why when he was on parole for like the next 10yrs when he got out and couldn't meet with other mobsters. his name must have been known threw out all the mob familys for being at the defendant table during the commission trial plus he whacked galante. I read somewhere he did go to meetings with massino. no one really spilled the beans about massino killing his father and the other capos till 2003.

That's true, pmac. But Bruno was never a big earner. I think that had more to do with it than anything else.

Before he went away...but when he was out, he should have been a legend and a respected, stand up guy for doing the time he did.

I hear you he did time and should get kudos for that but if I am a boss a guy like him hot head and druggy he stays as a soldier and nothing more regardless of doing his time.

If he would have put half the drugs he put up his nose out on the street instead he might have been a decent earner.

He'll be an old-timer when he gets out and the Bonannos are pretty fractured. My guess is, he won't be looking to step on any toes so I figure they'll throw him a bone for time served and give him a crew to run until he feels like moving to Florida.

He was def "in the outs" after his father was murdered. Someone I would like to know more about is his uncle Joseph Bruno Indelicato. It´s possible that he successfully got Bruno back on right track again. JB served as acting captain/official captain at some point some years ago and obviously had some pull with the top guys. And the fact that Basciano seems to have liked Bruno well enough to bring him back into good standing with the Bonannos, must have helped.

Really. Let him get out first. He's pushing 70 and has almost a full ten piece to go. And God only knows what the street will look like in ten years, let alone the Bonannos.

Isn't Joseph Indelicato still captain? Seems pretty lowkey, don;t here much about him.

Well, Vinny is very adept at exploiting people. The truth is, that's the sign of a good leader. And I think he liked the fact that Bruno was easy enough to get on board with the Santoro hit. Which was, don't forget, pretty much unsanctioned wink.

He may very well be. But I honestly can´t say for sure. He´s 83.

As far as we know, Joe is still captain of his brother's old crew, based in Manhattan, but still has operations on Staten Island, and in New Jersey.

Bruno was a cokehead before he went to prison, when he got out it is rumored that Joe made sure his nephew remained clean of drugs. Bruno was still feared and respected due to him being involved with the Galante hit. Bruno's real downfall was when Basciano used him, Vinny was real good like that with how to read someone.
