I had a lot of them over the years. One was Dane clark see him in the pride of marines.
Another was Fredrick March he was great played a lot of different parts. One of my favorites was the best years of our lives. Great great movie.
Then Burt Lancaster because he was a great actor and he was also an east harlem boy.
Then Rod Steiger especially when he was younger. See tge pornbroker that was some movie.
Then Kirk Douglas see the juggler, and lonely are the brave that was some fight seen with tge one armed guy in that movie. All the rest you have probably already seen.
Al Pacino another Harlem boy at least so they say?
Bob deNiro who loves his black women. Irene cara told me they called him Robert the negro.
Not a really great actor but joe Pesce a great guy love that guy. Met him at a half way house in Harlem. Have not seen him once he moved out of Ny.

Michael Caine, imo needs to be recognized as one of the best actors of all time. I like how DeNiros characters have all changed from whackadoo neighborhood guy, to tough guy, to hardened ex spy or cop... I enjoy Jason Statham, not just bc hes an action star... Watch his earlier films with Guy Ritchie, hes hilarious, he doesnt become a tough guy until those Driver films. Matt Damon is another one of my favorites, hes a great actor. Ben Affleck is a lot better than most of the roles he plays imho... Morgan Freeman, Denzel are fantastic actors. Sean Penn is good. Tom hanks, George Clooney has great talent, no matter what ppl think of him.. Same with Brad Pitt, look at his character in 12 Monkeys... Clive Owen, Tommy Lee Jones... I could go on forever... Cant get enough movies

Lewis is a great actor, Denzel is another one I kind of like Ed norton as well.
I did not like the movie the score but the actors in it were special.
But they made it look like deNiro was a genius thief. A score to me was more like the one in heat. Big rig crashes into an armoured car that's a score
Or steal a truck drive it in kings plaza shopping center at about 11 pm just before the movie is let out. Crash it through their front entrance into Kay's jewelry store take what you can and drive back out and leave.

I just became a chaplin fan after hearing his speech at the end of the great dictator on YouTube .
Now it is about time I leave this site getting bored with it. Maybe I will see you the next time I am in Berlin. It is going to be my new home soon.

This topic is "were", so I assumed the actors were no longer living.
John Wayne - not a great actor, but as a kid I loved all those war and cowboy movies. He was sooooooo tough. Burt Lancaster - Played Jim Thorpe, what else can you say. Steve McQueen - Mr. Cool...the Great Escape, Bullitt, oh yeah The Blob. Maureen O'Hara - my first starlet crush. Ezmerelda in The Hunchback of Notre Dame; The Quiet Man. Marlon Brando - say no more, Don Corleone. Gregory Peck - To Kill a Mockingbird, fabulous.

Spacey is okay but I have a hard time believing him play straight guys. I have nothing against the gays but this guy is pretty obviously gay and I don't buy him playing straight. He was decent in the Usual Suspects but even seemed gay in that. Eh, he's believable enough for me. Not all metrosexual/effeminate men are gay, just as not all hypermasculine guys are straight. There's a correlation but it's far from absolute. Besides, it's not like he's getting roles that would otherwise go to The Rock.

I forgot about Ed Harris. He's a pretty good actor. I met him a few years ago at the Eric Clapton concert while we were waiting outside to get in. My friends were talking to him a little bit, introducing themselves, shooting the breeze. And I was shy. So, I just kept quiet and observed. And then he said to me, "And, you are?" And he took my hand, I thought he was going to kiss it lol but he just gently shook it. He has the most beautiful blue eyes. I felt like he seduced me with his eyes. Meow. He's from Jersey too. +1 Harris is one of those 2nd tier actors that doesn't get the notice that some others do. Sam Shepard, James Wood, and Peter Strauss also.

That movie Apaloosa he did with Viggo Mortenson was really good.
The only celebrity I've ever met was Katie Holmes. This was back in 2000 way before she married Tom Cruise. She seemed pretty normal. Really..? was she as attractive as she used 2 b?/..I know ..that didn't sound right..that wasn't nice..but she was really smokin around the turn of the century..age gets the best of us. Yes, she was stunningly beautiful. It was at a frat party at University of Toledo and she was easily the prettiest girl there.

Yeah, that wasn't too nice of you but at least you went for the opposite sex. Nowadays, kids are encouraged by the media to be fa***ts and lesbians. So, at least we didn't have to contend with any of that shit growing up.

Growing up probably Jean Claude Van Damme or Steven Seagal.
My childhood consisted of watching Bloodsport and Kickboxer on repeat lol.

Fredrick March Tyrone Power Charlton Heston Gregory Peck Stephen Boyd Al Pacino Burt Lancaster Kirk Douglas Armand assante Lawrence Olivier
Check our Abandon ship staring Tyrone Power, Lloyd Nolan and Stephen Boyd. It on YouTube. Who do you think could play in a remake if made today? Great list. I'm going to look up that movie and tell you. What was the first movie you ever saw at the movie theater? I can't remember probably a monster movie I spent a lot of time in movies after I ran away from home. Globe Theather in the Bronx was the best. Get there in the morning cost 25 cents you got three monster movies, 25 cartoons at least 4 cereals like Flash Gordon. If the monster movies were good and they were good would see them all twice. Now if I see them on Amazon I buy them.

I watched about 40 minutes of that movie Abandon Ship. None of today's actors can come close to Tyrone Power's outstanding performance in that role imo. As soon as I started watching it I thought of George Clooney because he has the looks and the ability to play the character but lacks that confidence and power that Tyrone P had. Another actor I thought of was Henry Cavill who played Superman in Man of Steel. Some other actors I thought of for that role were Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Daniel Craig, Tom Hardy and Cillian Murphy. If Tom Hanks wasn't so goofy he could play him. Tyrone Power is the perfect man. He had the confidence, the intelligence, the power, the good looks, the charm. He had just the right balance of what a man needed to handle that situation he was in. He was very fair minded too. I'll watch the rest of the movie one day, kind of depressing. I skipped to the end to make sure it had a happy ending

What was the first movie you ever saw at the movie theater? A Dean Martin/Jerry Lewis film, "Pardners". It was one of their last movies they made together. A hot summer night in 1956; I was five years old. My parents wanted to get out of the hot apartment (this was in the days before everyone had air-conditioning at home) so they took me to the local theater and we watched Martin & Lewis in a COOL room. It was over sixty years ago but I still remember being thrilled at going into this huge, cavernous, dark room and seeing all these people watching the screen. I knew who the stars were (from television) and I think watched about thirty minutes of the movie before I fell asleep. I'd go on to visit that theater many, many times while I was growing up. I'd go with my friends once a month on a Saturday and spend the entire day there for 50¢ to see two main movies, a serial and some cartoons. Then, as I got older, I'd go there on dates. I'd still go there with my wife after I got married. Then the theater became a gym. Somehow everything came full cycle. Now when I go to a theater I fall asleep again. Only difference is, I snore now.

Favorite performance in a movie:
Jack Lemmon in Glengarry Glen Ross If you liked him in that you'll love his performance in "Save the Tiger".

You turned it off before the best part. He did something some might call fucked up. I can't tell you any more then that it will spoil it for you watch the rest. I watched the rest of it. And now, I think even more highly of Alec Holmes played by Tyrone Power. He got the situation handled, never backing down or second guessing himself. That is what I call a REAL man. He had to make extremely difficult decisions, everyone was against him. Not an easy job. Only a true ALPHA MALE can do that. Meow. Not too many men like that around in the real world today. I still believe my list of actors could play that role, just not as well as Power did. Do you have another movie for me to watch? The older the better.

BUT,what r us old school viewers gonna do when there is no one to root 4 that we dont even know their name in 6 fuckin'yrs.??? There r no more Pacino's or DeNiros or Hoffmans..old school viewers such as myself r used 2 what we were raised on. Go backwards. There are thousands of great classic movies to enjoy. Made in the '30s, '40s, '50s and '60s. And many, many great stars to watch. Names like Gable, Grant, Cooper, Cagney and Bogart. Hepburn (both Katherine and Audrey), Bette Davis and Barbara Stanwyck. All BIG stars. But these were also the years of truly great character actors whose names may not have been as well-known but they were masters of their craft and you'd probably recognize them all as soon as you saw them. People like Thomas Mitchell, Charles Coburn, Walter Brennan and Barry Fitzgerald.

Excellent post. There are so many B actors that did an excellent job. I especially remember Barry Fitzgerald. It seems he almost always played a priest. He was in Going My Way among others wasn't he?

TCM channel is a constant in our home..Love Robert Mitchum, Cagney,(own White Heat in VHS form)..Stanwyck is an awesome actress as well as a longtime bed fantasy,....Davis & Crawford,,(just watched Baby Jane 2 nights ago)..cant forget Sidney Portier,,the list goes on...

If I'm older than u Consig (with all due respect)..than I've probably had dibs on that fantasy in 1975.. How old are you? On the off chance that you are older (and I lose the "dibs") I immediately call a substitution for my fantasy - June Allyson. June Allyson??? Mmmm...that;s off the chart..BTW I was born 5 days after J.F.K. was shot...U figure the rest out.Sometimes lands on Thanksgiving..Wasn't June Allyson the mom in Lost in Space?

Yes. Also little Michaleen Flynn in The Quiet Man. Wasn't June Allyson the mom in Lost in Space? That was June Lockhart, who was also the mom in Lassie for a long time.
