Good researched chart, NJ!

I donĀ“t know, but somehow I find it hard to imagine mafiosi in Texas. In my mind, I picture them as cowboys, you know...in the JR Ewing style. smile

Tony, Mr. Jack Ruby was definitely a mob associate of the Chicago Outfit, Dallas Mob and New Orleans Mob, but wasn't a made guy. He was Jewish.

Hairy, I know what you mean. I can't picture anything but cowboys and outlaws in Texas.

Daniel, yes, a few of them said they vacationed there. I'll have to check, because I remember reading that.

Thanks to all who like my Irish mob charts, San Jose chart, Dallas chart, Joseph Massino Timeline, Philly chart, Colorado chart and the singers hit songs lists I do. All of those are mine.

Some other players in the Dallas crime family were

Anthony E Barbara - owner of the Twelve Signs Club

Anthony Francis "Tony" Caterine
- the owner of the Loser's Club (5436 E Mockingbird Lane) and Castaway Bar in Dallas (5600 Mockingbird Lane). It should be noted that Campisis' Egyptian Lounge was at 5410 Mockingbird Ln.
Caterine controlled most of the nightclub entertainment in Dallas, and frequently met with Campisi. He was allegedly involve din narcotics smuggling with Campisi (circa 1975).

Bobby Joe Chapman and Clarence Hill- two bookmakers close with Joe Campisi

John Dragna - I have little on him, other than he co-owned the Dallas Cuban Club at 7510 Skillman (circa 1971), and died in 1990 at 85yo. Close to Civello.

Frank Tortoriello is another name I have. Associate of the Canmpisi and Civello. Made guy, according to the Dallas PD, circa 1961.

Is there any information on cooperation between Dallas and the Maceo family in Galveston? The Maceo's probably had a bigger operation going in Galveston than there ever was in Dallas.

I have never heard of much activity from the Dallas family, if you can call it that. They owned bars and restaurants, but I am unaware of any labor racketeering, union control, etc primarily because there are not many unions in Texas.

Any info on their activities?

Come down to Austin - we got all kinds. A few years ago, a cross dressing homeless guy named Leslie ran for Mayor. He got over 10,000 votes.

Thanks for your information. However, I have all of those guys but one listed as associates. Caterine was a made man that I didn't have listed. Great to have a celebrity author on here.

I heard that about Austin. It's the only place in Texas that is not redneck conservative, too. Haha.

back on topic, anybody have an idea when this "family" was at its peak, however small that may have been? any estimates on # of made guys? i always got the impression that dallas worked close with new orleans back in the good old days.

Thanks, though celebrity is quite a reach... smile

Dragna and Tortoriello were most likely made. But I wouldn't get hung up on the "made" status in these small families. It just didn't mean as much. In Tampa, for instance, non-made Cuban guys had more power than many made Italians, and held considerable more sway with Trafficante. Dallas was the same. Just look at a guy like R.D. Matthews.

Anyway great to see a thread on such a minor family. Much more interesting than the umpteenth NY mob thread IMO.

Dallas worked closely with New Orleans, even in the not good old days. Contrary to the FBI the family did not cease to exist when Civello (who was a Baton Rouge native) died in 1972. Joe Campisi took over and he was very close to New Orleans as well. Campisi and the Marcellos were tight through the mid 1980s, and included Tampa in the mix. Vincent LoScalzo met with both Campisi and Joe Marcello after taking over when Santo Jr died in 1987.

Not a problem. Actually in the mob book and info world you are a celebrity. Not as high up there as Capeci, but getting close.

Davis' book about Carlos Marcello covers some of it. Though some of it is inaccurate, he calims that Dallas was taking orders from New Orleans when they were more connected to KC/Chicago. Due to close proximity NO and Dallas worked a lot together.
