LOL I saw that yesterday. LOL I LOVE Ferris Beuller. I never saw it at the movies but it began a favorite rental with myself and my kids. smile

My girls even have some lines memorized. ie when a student is explaining where Ferris may be. "My brother's sister's friends' girlfriends' neighbor......." Ben Stein was the teacher ("Bueller Bueller Bueller") LOL But don't remember his name in the film.

Anyway, the clip is too short.

The cost for a 30-second Super Bowl ad spot is nearing $3.5 million.

Liam Neeson considering converting to Islam

http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2012/01/...ref=mostpopular

So if he did that, what would be his Islamic name?

And how soon will he say SCHINDLER'S LIST was his best fictional movie ever?

Allegedly this is Audi's Super Bowl commercial.

Folks, I think we have an early front-runner for best game day ad.

Good commercial, as is the Ferris Bueller (although very short). I'll be darn tho if I'd watch a ball game just to see commercials. lol Heck, when the Stones did the half time show I had my son-in-law call me when half time started. LOL Best part of the game. Then again, that's me. grin

Anyway, for some reason I've liked Liam Neesom's last movies OR should I say I actually took notice of his movies. I liked Taken, Unknown and now I hear "The Grey" is getting good reviews. Anyone see it yet or plan to see it?

smile

TIS

Btw, yesterday and again today I heard reviews for this movie (both good). However, both reviewers said do NOT leave during closing credits, the story continues. Don't know exactly what they mean, but heads up.

TMC has been running some old Doris Day/Rock Hudson or James Garner movies. Remember those? Ahhh how innocent and sweet. LOL I am enjoying them though. Right now it's "The Thrill Of It All" with Day & Garner.

I forgot how stylish DD always looked. Even now watching, though dated styles, she still looks nice. Next, Rock Hudson in Man's Favorite Sport." I call things fluff/fun movies. smile

Anybody watch "Shameless" on Showtime? William H. Macy is terrific as the "patriarch" of this dysfunctional family.

I don't have Showtime, unfortunately.. Macy always does good work from what I've seen..

Hammer Films Rises From The Dead

Between Creature Feature and Thriller on local TV, I used to love watching Hammer Films. They were pushing the envelope for the time in both gore and sex.

Quote:
FEW names in horror command more respect than Hammer.
The director John Carpenter has said that seeing “The Curse of Frankenstein,” the first gothic hit by Hammer Film Productions, as a kid transformed him. Another esteemed veteran of the genre, Joe Dante, said the same movie lived up to its tag line promise to “haunt you forever.” And Martin Scorsese has described an obscure sequel, “Frankenstein Created Woman,” as “close to something sublime.”

What makes the enduring reputation of Hammer, the tiny British fantasy factory, even more impressive is that the company all but disappeared right as the horror genre boomed. Hammer struggled financially through much of the 1970s, ceasing production by the end of the decade. What’s more surprising perhaps is that since then reviving Hammer, built on sequels and remakes, has proven far more difficult than reanimating Frankenstein’s monster.

A group of admirers, including the director Richard Donner, looked into buying Hammer in the 1980s before discovering that it didn’t own many of its best-known properties. A consortium led by the art dealer Charles Saatchi did buy Hammer in 2000, announcing plans to make new films but never doing so. Then in 2007 Simon Oakes, a cable television executive who had noticed the frequency that Hammer was mentioned in the press, spearheaded the acquisition of the company’s film library and raised what was reported as $50 million to make new movies. His focus has not been on remaking Hammer movies, although he’s not ruling that out...

My daughters' and I are huge Ferris Beuller fans. They can recite lines from the movie. It is still fun to watch.

I'm glad I saw an extended version of that ad. I thought that the very short clip was all there was. Great ad. smile

SB,

Did you watch Alcatraz tonight? Hasn't aired here yet but I'm looking forward to watching. I'm gonna try to check out the new Keifer Sutherland show, "Touch" on "On-Demand." Did anyone catch that and if so, was it good?

I did see Alcatraz, and I didn't love this episode as much as others. I think I just hated the characters so much.

Back to Super Bowl ads, another confirmed is a Pepsi ad starring Elton John and X-Factor winner Melanie Amaro.
