This is tough. I'm guessing the person (is it you?) would've been roughly in their mid-30's when GF2 was made. It could be someone (an extra) so obscure that no one will guess it, like one of Michael's young buttonmen (e.g., Joe Lo Grippo), or a cop (Carmine Foresta)... Tell us, is the person at least listed on this page ?

Would Don Ciccio have been in his 30's back then?

I have searched the internet looking for a match for this photo, matching it with all the photos I can find of characters from The Godfather: Part II, but to no avail. Here's a list of the characters it could be (remember, this guy is still alive).
Al Pacino (definitely not) Robert Duvall (ditto) Robert De Niro (nope) G.D. Spradlin (Geary) Richard Bright (Al Neri) Gastone Moschin (Don Fanucci) Bruno Kirby (young Clemenza) Frank Sivero (Genco Abbandando) John Aprea (young Sal Tessio) James Caan (definitely not) Abe Vigoda (nope) Gianni Russo (Carlo, doubt it) Oreste Baldini (child Vito, although he seems too young to be it) Giuseppe Sillato (Don Ciccio) Mario Cotone (young Don Tommasino) James Gounaris (Anthony Corleone) Carmine Caridi (Carmine Rosato) Danny Aiello (Tony Rosato) Peter Donat (Questadt) Roger Corman (Senator #2)
*NOTE I excluded all the males who's information wasn't provided, and the ones who were obviously not it (save Pacino and the rest, for comic relief). I also excluded extras, as trying to figure that out would be futile.

I don't care how much makeup they gave him, but I really doubt Ciccio was in his 30's back then! I'm not saying he doesn't resemble him, because he does -- many features match up almost perfectly. But I just really doubt Dick Smith woulda spent as much time or more on him as he did on Brando, making him look much older -- and realistically so. Of course, I could be wrong. Guest24 needs to comment on it...

Does that man in the picture look in his mid-60's to you? I don't know, there is a period of time between mid-40's to mid-70's that men do look quite the same while aging. I think Don Cardi is right. Anyway...why on earth would they have hired an actor in his 30's to play a character who is probably 20 years older. This was Hollywood...not a high school play. I think it might be the actor who played young Don Tomassino, who aided young Vito in killing Ciccio...and was then crippled by the gunshots while escaping. Apple

I know, Don C....don't worry!! I was laughing right along with you. Were you waiting for some kind of clever comeback??? Obviously not my style . Seriously, if I had a nickel for every time I read the words: " I really can't belive I'm saying this, but I agree with Apple! " ... my earnings would probably equal Pacino's combined salary from all 3 GF films!! (Of course on other lists my real name is used...it's only here on the Gangster BB that am I known as a fruit) Apple

Apple I've tried every possible search for this guy's bio, but to no avail. Nothing comes up about his date of birth. No pics either. It's time for the original poster of this question to reveal who this mystery person from GFII is! Don Cardi

1974 The Godfather Part II Actor: Giuseppe Sillato Don Francesco ___________________ Found on the internet. I'm just a newbie here: Is his full name Don Francesco Ciccio, or is it a totallt different actor?
And I'm sorry Don Cardi, but I think this game should go on for a while, Turnbull is going to show in this thread who's the king of GF knowledge.
Still think it's Don Ciccio, he could have been between 40 and 45 in the movie, Apple, with lot's of makeup

"Ciccio" (or "Cicc'") is the diminuitive of Francesco. His formal name is Don Francesco, but he's also known as Don Ciccio. In GFII, Sra. Corleone calls him "Don Ciccio" when she implores him to spare Vito's life. But that night, when his henchmen are shouting their warnings in the town's streets that whoever's hiding Vito should give him up, they say, in Italian, that "Don Francesco will thank you for it."

I know this place, over in New Jersey, an Italian restaurant called Casa Dante. We can all go there and decide this thing. They have an old toilet with the box and the chain. DS can be the negotiator. Plaw can order the Garlic Bread, it's the best in town. We can then try and decide who this mystery man is, over a nice dinner. But if SC gets up to go to the toilet, better yet if he asks permission to go to the toilet, then we're in trouble! Don Cardi

Okay, here are some more shots... I wish I had more of Mystery Man. Compare their noses and ears, and Don Ciccio has a DeNiro-like mole on his face which doesn't seem to be as pronounced as our Mystery Man's. And I don't care how much makeup he has on in the early GF2 scenes -- he's not in his 30's or 40's! The makeup is in the bottom right when he's older. I went through a bunch of possibilities in GF2, and none matched. This match does seem to be the closest so far, but I've yet to be convinced...

True, the mole isn't as pronounced--it may have been more prominent when he was younger, or have been darkened for the camera. But for me, the convincer is the bag under the left eye.

And, Don Ciccio has a pronounced dimple in his chin. I can't accept a bag under someone's eye as proof. How old do you think Giuseppe Sillato is in these pics? It's obviously not an actor they brought over from the states -- especially a middle-aged one they could dress up too look 20 yrs older. I think they found a local who looked like they envisioned to play the part. He had been in 2 previous movies, and hasn't worked since GF2. I gotta run - will be back later... But after all this, I know it's gonna turn out to be him anyway!

Originally posted by J Geoff: And, Don Ciccio has a pronounced dimple in his chin. I can't accept a bag under someone's eye as proof. I'm with you on this one, JG. I noticed the dimple too, as well as the fact that Don Ciccio has longer, straighter eyebrows with a low arch towards the outside. Mystery Man's eyebrows arch in the middle, and they're thicker. Also, not only does MM lack the dimple, but he's also got one of those horizontal half-moon creases under his bottom lip, which Ciccio doesn't have. Hmmm... unless that's a scar. Also, the crow's feet by Ciccio's eyes turn up by the eyelid, while MM's turn down onto the cheekbone. And speaking of lines in the face, notice how Ciccio's laugh lines around his mouth are really deep? MM's aren't as deep, and furthermore, the line on the left side isn't straight, it's kind of uneven, like one little part of it doesn't crease as deep as the rest. I notice that because I have it when I smile, too. It's tough to tell, really... I mean we could be WAYYY off. And if we're right and it's not really him, that's a lot of coincidences for two actors in a movie. The mole, the moustache (which looks about similar), etc. Also, MM could be well into his 70's, maybe early 80's if he's really healthy. I don't think he necessarily has to be in his 60's. And if it is Ciccio, then he's gained weight, which could make a big difference in how his face looks. So it's not impossible. But still, I'm not convinced it's him. Sorry DC. By the way, in the bottom left picture-- is Ciccio about to sneeze? It looks like he's breathing in for it, and the next picture should be "CHOO!!"

I said in my last post: and it was not an answer to this question. Hey plaw, do you think Mystery Man is the guy eating Chinese food, you know, the Rocco Lampone imposter? But a guess who the mystery man could be. Just to keep things clear. But if that 'guest 24' isn't going to come back (just saying one letter is enough), then I don't believe him anymore. Maybe it's just a picture of his grandfather, or whatever.
See, we can act as smart as we want, but at the end of the day, we still follow a guy who fucks himself with kebab skewers.

Here's a link to a pretty recent photo of Frank Sivero (the dude who played Genco in Part II. He also played Carbone in Goodfellas. I've no idea how old the pic is, but I doubt its more than a few years old. Which means I doubt the picture in the original post is Frank Sivero. Frank Civero

I checked out the site at the link from which this photo is posted.
It appears as if the picture was recently taken on May 14th, and uploaded to this photo site on May 16th.
My guess? It's the guy's uncle or somebody, who everyone tells he looks just like Frank Pentangelli or someone from The Godfather, so the guy figured he'd have a little fun with us.

Hi PLaw!!! Well, it was fun, at first anyway. It's an interesting idea for a thread, but how many recent photos can you find on most of these actors. TIS
