When she died, The Sopranos lost one of its best actresses and key characters. The plot of mother-son relationship with her "mental patient" Tony was the most significant storyline of season one, and developed throughout season two to set up a great plot in season three. But when Nancy died the show was hit really bad. Pussy had just been kiled off, and the show had lost one of the key characters there, and now Nancy Marchand had died.

My question is this: what do you think, if Nancy was still alive, would the mother-relationship be right now at the end of season four? What were David Chase's plans for Livia's character? (Does anybody know?) I'd love to bring her back and see where she was right now in the show, at the beginning of season five.

I think if Livia was still alive that probably would have made for more storylines and discord between Tony and Livia.

But with all due respect to Ms. Marchand, I never did care for her character and I don't think the show is lacking without her. Can't explain it, because Tony and Christopher characters aren't admirable either, but for some reason, I could do without the Livia character. Just my opinion.
