My local paper quoted TV Guide Online as saying she was back in the new season. They mentioned that her death was never shown onscreen.

Hmmm, I doubt it. Shooting hasn't even begun on a new season. A quick search of TV Guide Online came up with nothing. Her death wasn't shown, but confirmed by Dr. Melfi and a few others. She also wouldn't add much to the show at this point. IMO.
