ok, this is the thing, i never really got into watching the soprano's until now, when i only watch it on and off because i don't really know all the background information, and subsequently i have planned to view the previous series's. However, i don't really know what series is on now or which ones have passed, so could someone please tell me how many series there have been, and what series is on TV now(baring in mind that i'm in the UK)so that i can get up to speed.

That would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

right now HBO is about 2/3 the way through season
2. season 3 will start a couple weeks after 2 ends
both 1 and 2 are avail. on vhs or dvd-season 4 i
heard could be as far as august before it starts,
the writers like to shoot all 13 shows before they get released on HBO.

You should buy or rent the DVDs (or tapes if you don't own a DVD player) and get into the show. I love the show, even though I've only seen season 1 and 2 (no HBO). The shows really flow together, and it's not a stretch to say that you can watch about 6 hours of the show in a row before you realize that you've been in front of the tube for that long.

I don't know how HBO airs the shows, but as far as I know season 3 has already been completely aired and I guess they're just showing reruns now.

Don't worry I only became a Sopranos fan towards the late end of Series 2. On Channel 4 over here in Lincolnshire its showing series 3 half ten tonight. But it's quite a few episodes into it now. Great TV. It's repeated on E4 (on sky) on sundays I think.

Hope thats helped.

Sopranos rules!! Its funny, serious, just utter brillance!. Season 3 finished on Network 2 in Ireland a couple of months ago. I cant wait for the 4th season. I've been watching the episodes again on Channel 4 and it rules!.

Season 3 will probably be out sometime around Thanksgiving or Christmas.

A Sopranos movie is not necessary. The show is plenty good.
