instead of taking the film beyond a trilogy i think the back story should be dealt with. you could set it between deniro's final part in part two and the beginning of the first film. you could have deniro as vito again and have pacino as genco that way they could play along side each other for the whole film and that would be great. you could have some sort of gang war going on that the two of them were orchestrating and the young sonny could be involved in this as he could be getting tutored in the business by tessio and clemenza. in the book it says that when they were kids fredo was the toughest son, so i think his story should be showing how he became so weak and it should somehow involve a courtcase in which the young tom hagen defends him. connie could be getting harassed by a bunch of teenage punks so her story could be a sort of war between theses kids and her assigned bodyguard luca brasi. and finally young michael, his story should show his time at war and how it forced him firstly to mature out of his college boy phase and secondly to begin hating violence enough to not want to get into the family business. the film could end with michael arriving back in america and Genco dying as this was cut out of the first film.

what do you all think?

Pacino as Genco?

welcome to the boards man

I like your 'family affair' aspect, that's quite new among all ideas here!

thank you. i just think that all the family should be dealt with, although that would probably be too much to fit into one film.

as for Pacino as Genco the only reason that i've done that is so you could have pacino and deniro together on screen for a considerable amount of time. heat didn't do that enough. i think they could play of each other really well in a sort of battle of wits.

the main problem is that all the actors from the first two films are way to old to do any parts in the early years ....Must be all new actors. The good things is that they don't have to be high paided actors as they would be new upstarts or people who don't demand 20 million a picture so more can be spent on the filming itself...
