Did anyone see Andy Garcia in Ocean's Elven. The resemblance to Pacino in the GF2 was striking!
He must revist the role of Vincent.

Sorry, Kurgan! Missed your post! I haven't seen the flick yet, but from what I saw in the trailers, I quite agree with you. Although, I don't know if that alone is enough to qualify Garcia as the "next Don" in GF IV.

You mentioned Vicnent becomign the NEXT DOn not the LAST don. Tis may be for legal reasons

or do you expect someone to take over after Don Vincenzo Corleone?

Don Antonio Vitone Corleone
Don Miguelo Francesco Rizzi Corleone
Don Santino Corleone the Second
Don Francesco Corleone
Don Alberto Neri Corleone
Don Tommasso Corleone
Don Gaetano Corleone
Don Louis Pennino Corleone
Donness Constanzia Corleone
Don Tommasso Neri Corleone
Don Andrew Hagen Corleone
Don Enzo Paniterra Corleone
Don Jovan Fontane Corleone
Don Victor Rizzi Corleone
Donness Kay Adams Michelson Corleone

Wouldn't it be funny to see Kay Adams as Don in GF4. Ordering around her daughter's fiance, Vincent Mancini Corleone. She would call them Vincent Mancini, and Anthony Adams, Connie Rizzi, she'd hate ANYTHING with the name Corleone.

I didn't think he looked especially Sicilian in GF3 but then again nor really do Brando or Caan etc /shrug.

He looks much more like Pacino now than 10 years ago. I was never struck by any resemblance then.

I dunno, Ricardo. Look at Chevy Chase's National Lampoon "Vacation" sequels: he had 2 different kids named "Russ" and "Audrey" for every movie and he never even noticed!

Thanks Snake, I love it too. Marilyn Monroe is my favourite actress so I figured I'd put her on as my Avatar.

I agree with Guineapig, Andy Garcia is not right for the role. He doesn't look Italian/Sicilian. They need to find someone to fit the bill and it isn't him. However, I can't think of anyone right now who could even come close to DeNiro & Pacino. Someone mentioned Tom Cruise...I don't think so. How about Robert Downey Jr. Great actor and could pass for Italian. (Of course we'd have to wait til he straigtens his life out).

All right, this is my opinion which sums up my reasoning why I don't think Andy Garcia should be in GF4. I hope I have been here long enough that my friends on the board will take this the way I mean it. Andy Garcia is Cuban/Latino right? He has been on many Latino award shows/I believe has been involved in many Latino causes & I've seen him on the "Spanish" stations here in California. Well, that's wonderful, but, that is the exact reason why he shouldn't play an Italian, he would not be believeable. We all know him as a Cuban/Latino actor.

I recently saw "The Wedding Planner" with Jennifer Lopez and it was not a bad movie. However, she played the part of an Italian girl in an Italian family. Well, I laughed it was so unbelievable. It's the same with Jennifer, who rightfully shows her "Latino" pride; I could NOT buy her as an Italian. I remember her promoting "Selena" saying how it was important to have Latino entertainment, etc.

Now, one could say Pacino should have never played "Scarface" because he was not Cuban. However, in all honesty, Pacino was never the activist, shall we say, for Italian causes, even though I'm sure he is a proud Italian. Therefore, I think that's where the difference is. Garcia is a good actor (good looking too), but out of place in the "Italian" setting. Does anyone know what I mean???? Guinea, you know what I mean???

Yeah i know what you mean Annt. I also don't like he's acting style. I agree with everything you said couldn't have said it better. No Prejudice involved in this but i think that THE GODFATHER was made by Italians, about Italians(Sicilians), and for Italians Sicilians even more then anyother ppl, even though everybody can relate to it it just doesn't feel right bringing some else in especially if he'll be passed off as somethign he is not and if he's acting style isn't good enough to be in the movie well at least i don't think it is nor like it.Also even in the movie he's an outsider to "The Family" where did he come from, did he spend time with them before? He was prob Jules's kid idk but i really don't think. he should be in the movie. And they make him the Don outrageous. . Well if nobody else understands what i mean i'm sure Annt understands what i mean.Cappolla Seriously pulled Vincent out of his ass.

I dont really have a problem with a person of a different nationality (or religion)playing a person of another nationality (or religion). For me at least, they better just as well act like they are, because if they dont sound or act the part, then its going to be pretty obvious to the audience and its going to come out sounding bad.

So,just pick the right people and actors for the job, whether the same nationality or not.

How about Marlon Brando and James Caan? Both are not Italian(not sure what Brando is)and made memorable and great performances.Even Robert De Niro who is more Irish than Italian made a great performance.

I believed all their performances, even if they are not all or mostly sicilian.

MFM,

I totally agree with you. Both Caan & Brando were wonderful and neither are Italian. Both were believeable in the parts and we don't know of what heritage they are from,(at least Brando's) In GF they are playing Italians, and it seemed believeable. Again, I refer to my previous posts re A.G., he does "not" look the part at all!! Of course, that's my opinion and If there is a GF4, I am sure they won't ask for my opinion!!!!
