Just an idea!

Since it's extremely unlikely Godfather 4 will be made anytime in the near future. Perhaps we could write a script for Godfather 4 here! Just for kicks.

We could start by establishing a time period for the film, and making a rough outline of the story, that most of us could agree on.

Then from that loose framework, write the film! One person writes a scene, then in the next post someone writes another, etc.

Of course this disclaimer first: "This is a piece of fan fiction that is just for fun, and in no way could be close to anything Copolla and Puzo could produce." ;-)

Good idea. I think most people here favour the idea of a "double time period" type film like Part II, telling of Vincent's story after Mary's death and also chronicling the 'missing' period covering the rise of Vito and Sonny.
Right????

What has the universe got to do with it? You're here in Brooklyn! Brooklyn is not expanding!

Sounds great! This way all our favorite characters can be used.

What specific years should be used for the Vito and Vincent timelines?

Then we can construct our main plot for each timeline.

Then a couple of subplots for our supporting Corleone characters.

We'll need to construct some new characters, too!

When we actually start writing the script, it would probably be best to have a few parallels to the other films, since FFC did so in his trilogy.
For example, our Vincent/Micheal timeline opening scene should probably be a celebration of some sort, etc.

I'm all up for helping to write GF4, as i'm quite an avid script writer my self...

I think that the story should basically be in the same mould as GF2, with flashbacks etc... I think the final scene should be with Vincent at about 60, and his son has just become a senator, which is what Vito wanted for Michael. The flashbacks could tell the stories of how Sonny grew up, Tom's entrance to the Family, Tom Hagens death etc etc...

I'm actually doing a script outline for a possible GF4 film for college, so i'll post that on the board when its finished...

Older Vito, Older Vincent. Call it the rise and fall of the Corleone family. Show how Vito built his empire up from scratch, and how the lure of drugs ensured the downfall of the family under Vincent.Magic

Cicci, a porta.

You could set Vincent's part in the mid 90's and have it end with him going to prison on the same day Micheal dies in 1997. That way the family still technically dies with Mike in 97.

I'm definitely in.

If yous would like to contact me about this, my Email is nyitalianmf3@yahoo.com and my AOL IM SN is nyitalianmf3wtc.

Also, if anyone has purchased the Godfather Trilogy DVD Set (as I have), if you check out the bonus footage disc, it has a family tree, so we could pick up the story of one or two of the family memebers that are still alive.

Opening scene, GFIV. Michael remains motionless after falling over in the chair at the Tommisino compound. Enter from left, Vincent Corleone bending down to Michael
Vincent - "Uncle Mike! Uncle Mike!"
Michael - "Huh? (adjusts sunglasses)
Vincent - "You drank all your wine, do you need a refill?"
Michael - (pats Vincent lovingly on the cheek) "Grazie...bigger glass please, help me to my chair"

I don't really like the senator idea. You can't end the movie like that. The Godfather has to end in tragedy. It's not supposed to be the feel good movie of the year. Vito Corleone should not get have his dreams fulfilled because he was a murderer. The Godfather IV should be about the zenith of the Corleone Family, and the main character should be Sonny. And in modern times it should be about Vincent who is in a very dangerous drug trade. And in the end of the movie, Vincent should be assasinated, ending the Corleone family forever. He can't have a succesor.

That's a hilarious beginning but I hope you were kidding. GF4 MUST begin with a party as all of the other GF movies have. At the party, the majority of our characters have to be either seen or mentioned.

No one has mentioned the most important aspect of this great idea...who would be cast as Vito and the three sons during the 1930-45 period. The only obvious choice I can think of is Lance Bass of N'Sync as an adolescent Sonny.

Seriously, who among today's actors could bridge the gap between Vito at age 35 and age 50ish? (Excluding DeNiro: I can't see him reprising his breakthrough role)

Okay... Godfather IV... color me interested!

Now, I'm not one to toot my own horn, but I recently finished an indie film (no budget, dialogue driven) and have been told by the few people who've seen it that the dialogue is quite snappy. I thought it was weak, but alas... the artist as their own worst critic... I'd love to help!

So far as storyline, plot... we HAVE to find out what happened to Tom Hagen! I think we can come up with something interesting here on that one. Also, I'd like to see a little of Michael and Kay post-GFIII, maybe some Anthony as well. Vincent? Hmmm... so many ways to go here. Perhaps we find a "Sammy The Bull" character whose loose lips finally bring down the empire? And if we're going to mimic GFII in regards to flashbacks, two words - LUCA BRASI!

I'd love to help write this!! I've written scripts for two TV shows for a college class. My "Future Plans" for high school were to "Write a better version of The Godfather, Pt. III, but that was four years ago.

A possible plotline could stem from this:

Vincent's son is announcing his candidacy for President of the United States after being senator of NY. His ties, however, are through the help of Vincent and his dealings within the New York--New Jersey families. He's also deep into the Colombian drug cartel and has involved his brother Frank and several other associates.

That's just an idea, but in GF 3, Sonny's other children are never really mentioned.

This is EXACTLY why we don't want aGF4, there is NO Vincent's son, we want this to end all our expectation, not leave us with a GF5.

I like the idea of the Lost Years!

We could have:
Genco Olive Oil- Vito, Genco, Clemenza, Tessio, Roth, and Pentangelli, plus Tommasino and Altobello in Sicily.

Roth meets Ola, and Moe Greene in Havana. Moe builds a city. Vito and Roth use it to run Molasses from Havana to Canada.

12 year old sonny meets Tom hagen. Vito adopts Tom. According to the Novel, Vito is Godfather to Signora Colombo's child. Enter Johnny Fontane.

Roth leaves GOO, and goes into business full-time with Ola, and Greene, and helps get Batista into office in 1930s.

Sonny meets Pauli Gatto. Vito runs into problems with the irish Mafia wanted to take over Little italy.

Vito hires Luca to take care of bandleader.
Vito and Luca are friends for life.

Don: Vito
Consigliere: Genco
Capos: Clemenza & Tessio
Pentangelli, Sonny, Pauli, Luca

Mike's cheerleaders
Fredo struggles in school.
Connie-???

These 3 are minor characters in this era.

Philip Tattaglia becomes a rival don.
Bruno bullies Sonny.
But Sonny and Pauli and Carlo get Bruno back.

This starts the Tattaglia vs. Corleone rivalry.

Vito is shot. Luca offs a couple micks. Sonny graduates and him and Pauli enter family.

Johnny's father is murdered by the Irish Mafia.
Tom's father is murdered by the Irish mafia.

Vito/Luca/Sonny's revenge on the irish.

Barzini, Cuneo, and Strachi become Dons.
5 Families, Vito moves to Long Island, after problems with Irish Mafia.

Pearl Harbor Birthday Party. Carlo courts Connie.

Mike in WW2, cover of Time. Mike at Dartmouth. Mike meets Kay.

Vito works deal with Francesco Molinari to protect Fredo while in Vegas. Fredo works with Greene. Greene, and Roth, and Ola are involved in rackets in Las Vegas, and Cuba. Fredo makes trips to Cuba, works rackets with his new friends. fredo froms friendship that later leads to Mike being sold out in Gf2.

Fontane's problems with Margot Ashton. Fredo meets Deanna Dunn. Segal and Lucy.

While in Vegas, Lucy Mancini gives birth to Vincent Mancini. Cut to: 1975

Don: Mike
Consigliere: Tom
Capo: Neri

Cicci takes over GOO and New York Family after pentangelli. Dying Cicci gives business to Zasa.

5 Families: Zasa, Volpe, Romano, Cuneo, Parisi

Vincent becomes Capo under Zasa.

Dying Tom is assured by Mike that Andrew will be Legit and is ordained shortly after Tom's death.
Merle Johnson has recently divorced Connie.

Anthony and Mary live in NH with Kay, and Micheal Douglas.

Mike, Neri, and Connie decide to go legit.
Mike starts to creep his way into the Vatican, later eceiving papal honors, GF3.

B.J. becomes Mike's lawyer.

Zasa goes around saying "fu** Micheal Corleone", Vincent runs his own drug-ring inprivate without Zasa's knowledge. Zasa find sout hence the Zasa, Vincent, Mike meeting in GF3.

Zasa wipes out 5 families in Atlantic City.
Vincent offs Zasa. Takes over New York, Dominic Abbandando take sover GOO.

Tommasino dies. Vincent becomes Don.

Vincent and Mary's romance. Mary dies. Vincent finds and kills Lupo.

Calo takes over for Tommasino. Micheal moves to Tommasino's Villa with Anthony. Anthony becomes regular at Sicilian opera. Mike fades away from the mafia. Mike becomes Calo's advisor. Mike is sole-owner of Immobilaire.

Vincent discovers mary was pregnant when she was killed. Vincent takes over back in New York. Works Drug-ring. Dying Cicci disapproves, and orders a hit on vince, it fails. Vincent has Cicci offed. Dominic Abbandando becomes Vincent's partner. There is only ONE rival family. Some of Vincent's peole are killed, some of rivals are killed.

Take it from there.

Vincent can have a son, but this son DOES NOT become Don. Because movie ENDS in 1997 with Micheal's death, and Vincent's imprisonment/death/legitimacy.

Throw in Clemenza and the Rosats in the 50's Pentangelli takes over.

There you go.

I like those ideas for GF4. The only thing I would do differently is that I think Vincent's story and Sonny's rise should go together. Everything that happened between GF2 and GF3 like Hagens death and Zasa taking over NY operations should be done in a miniseries or tv series called GF: The Lost Years. Sunday nights on ABC lol

I am really surprised that with all the Godfather books being written that no one has tackled a post-part III book yet. The Winegardner and Falco books all seem to be about the golden years, which is understandable, but I think there is enough material based on notes FFC and Puzo perhaps shared when part IV was being discussed to base a novel on. Of course you'd have to get the approval of FFC and Paramount, most likely, to be able to use info from the movies, but it's only gonna make them more money, so I think they'd approve.
