Crisis 2021 Set against the backdrop of the opioid epidemic, three stories follow a drug trafficker arranging a multi-cartel Fentanyl smuggling operation; an architect, recovering from oxycodone addiction, searching for her missing son; and a university professor who battles unexpected revelations about his employer at a pharmaceutical company, bringing a new "non-addictive" painkiller to market.
To note the change of scenery and criminal organizations depicted: snowy Quebec and Michigan replace the overused deserts of Mexico, while the Armenians and French Canadian drug lords are the main criminal factions involved.
It’s not Soderbergh’s “Traffic†but it’s definitely worth a watch.
