GM recall: Side air bags can explode in Chevy, GMC pickups

https://apnews.com/article/business-technology-7a6147cd751d5f53a7a74aea5f27a134

DETROIT (AP) — General Motors is recalling more than 400,000 pickup trucks in the U.S. because the side air bags can explode without warning and spew parts into the cabin.

The recall covers certain 2015 and 2016 Chevrolet and GMC Sierra 1500, 2500, and 3500 trucks.

Documents posted Friday by U.S. safety regulators say the air bag inflator can rupture or the end cap can fly off on both sides of the trucks. Documents say three inflators ruptured in 2015 Silverados last month, one in Florida and two in Texas. All three trucks were unoccupied at the time, and GM says it has no reports of injuries..

The company says a manufacturing defect allowed moisture into the inflator while it was being manufactured, causing corrosion. The inflators were made in Mexico by Joyson Safety Systems.

Where ever needed.
I got out of Cheney as my daily driver two years ago, they always have some issue every year or six months.

I’m in a Honda Truck now and not a problem.
No recalls.
Caddy remains in the garage, should drive it more.
Never had a recall.

I had a recall on my '19 Mazda 3--the "smart braking system" might falsely detect an object in the road and jam on the brakes. Software issue. This is a great car but it's got too many electronics for its own (and my) good, and they're not as "smart" as the factory thinks they are.

Never had a recall on my '15 BMW M4. I did have major issues several months after installing a Dinan tuner, but that wasn't the factory's bad--it was Dinan's..

https://www.cnbc.com/2021/07/14/gm-...or-charge-them-unattended-overnight.html

General Motors is telling owners of 2017-2019 Bolt EVs that were part of a recent recall not to park their vehicles inside or charge them unattended overnight after two of the vehicles caught fire.

The two Bolt EVs were repaired as part of a recall of nearly 69,000 of the vehicles that were flagged for fire risks. The recall was initially announced in November by GM and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The automaker Hyundai is recalling nearly 240,000 cars in the U.S. because the seat belt pretensioners can explode and injure people in the car. So far three injuries have been reported, two in the U.S. and one in Singapore.

In a letter to Hyundai, government regulators said that the driver's and front passenger's seat belt pretensioners can explode upon deployment and send shrapnel throughout the vehicle. Pretensioners tighten the belts in preparation for a crash.

The recall, which expands and replaces three previous recalls, includes 2019-2022 Accents, 2021-2023 Elantras and 2021-2022 Elantra HEVs, or hybrid electric vehicles. Vehicles repaired under the previous recalls will need to be taken back to dealerships for the new remedy.
