To me, the families who are 100% still active are : The 5 families of NY, The DeCavalcante, The Bruno-Scarfo, The Patriarca and Chicago.

I believe Buffalo, Detroit, Pittsburgh and Cleveland have some made guys left but these families should be exctinct at some point.

Don't really know about KC and New Orleans.

NY Five Families, New Jersey, Philadelphia, Providence, Chicago. I don't think we'll see the end of Italian American organized crime over there anytime soon. At least not in our lifetime.
Other cities that used to have a clear family still have a bit of activity, but I doubt these are still real criminal organizations with more than a few made guys.

Pittsburgh only has one member left and Cleveland I think only has two or three

The commom denomonator seems to be where there are still large italian populations, there is still OC. NYC, Jersey, Boston, and Philly ( close suburbs).
Maybe Chicago and Detroit. The more watered down an italian community gets, the more watered down OC gets.
You want to destroy the bloods and crips, break up the black hoods. Same thing.

Pittsburgh and Cleveland are done. Maybe there's some tiny activity in Cleveland, but I'd be surprised if they have a functioning body. Detroit on the other hand is definitely still there. Same goes for Buffalo, Chicago, The Patriarcas, Philly and Denver.

I thought they were finished as well, but they are around. The best kept secret on the West Coast.

They own hotels down there. They're big in gambling, loansharking and the legal weed market in Colorado. For the longest time this family was believed to be dead, but about 10-15 years ago they discovered through informants connected to the now defunct LA family that there was a presence in Denver. They are a very tight knit bunch

It doesn't surprise me there's still activity in Denver. A while back I came across a law enforcement chart for the Denver family. It shocked me how huge it was. This was from the 80s or 90s I believe. Obviously not all were made guys but if even a fraction were, then it's inevitable some are still around.

I have my own, but I can tell you that Kenny Gallo has also confirmed this. Late LA capo Louis Caruso introduced Gallo to the boss of Denver. Caruso was said to be close with the boss

I'm no fan of Gallo by the way, but he wasn't lying about Denver

Bonannos are still moving plenty of dope with whoever is running things since Rizzuto died on Canadian side

Chicago is still somewhat strong though less violent

Palermo/Sicilian are still very strong outside US

There we have it folks. The mob in Denver is still thriving. Breaking news from credible source Kenji Gallo.

Lol.... there is NO Denver mob. In its heyday they were but a wist of a "crew" by comparison to the more solid borgatas across the country. In 2020?, they are not even a thing. There will always be crime, and guys who break the law. People like to gamble, etc., so there will always be fellas to book a be, etct. But a structured mob? No way!

And for your information, Kenji Gallo is hardly a credible source. He was, and is, a blowhard. An Asian/American no less who was a half a drug dealer, independent schemer, porno movie hanger around. etc etc......and a born double-dealing, lying rat. In truth he was a half a pimp!

He was NOT a "wiseguy" or even a solid "knockaround guy." Probably his biggest claim to fame (if thats what you wanna call it) was the fact that he had absolutely no morals at all. Zero. Even though he was breaking the law himself, he deemed it good to be a straight out "Rodent," an informer. He's lucky he lived in LA., because if they could have reached for him, guys in NYC would have hurt him. But it's not the "old days" and he got away with it. Like so many stool pigeons nowadays.

Thats what he deserved. So I wouldn't even mention his name, because 90% that comes out of his mouth is all self-serving BS. (just like most informants). He makes himself out to be the smartest guy in the world. In reality, nothing could be further from the truth.

Denver, as far as structure, I dont see any. There are a handful of associates to the family that are still engaged in illegal activities, but since Colorado has allowed online gambling, there has been an increase of of said associates near the casinos, notably Broncos Billy's, they do have a small presence in Cripple Creek, Deuces Wild in Colorado Springs. Most of what you say are the descendants from the old family that are legitimate. There are associates from families outside Colorado who have been operating for over a decade in the state, Genovese, Gambino, Chicago, Decavalcante and Detroit have a small presence in the state. The legalization of Weed as people coming and going, the mob has staked a few claims on them. Gambino and Chicago are the only two that are working off and on with the cartels in the state. The Russians are on top as they have been "loaning" money to a few casinos to start up.

You're wrong about Denver, but right about Kenji. He's a piece of shit and a liar, but he wasn't lying about Denver. It's not a big family by any means, but they do have structure and they have wealth. Much of what they're doing is legitimate, so LE isn't too concerned about them. But to say they're not there is inaccurate.

Truth be told I'm not all that familiar with Denver, so it is possible that there is a small contingent of what we'd call "organized" criminals. Maybe even Italian-based organized criminals. Remnants of what at one time was considered "mafia" connected.

But I "def" do not think that there is a "Family" structure out there. Or even a full sized "regime" as you and I would describe it. Individuals who may come from elsewhere and operate there. Yes, maybe. Do they know "people" or could they "reach" out for somebody? Possibly.

But all in all, I seriously doubt a solid structure Ralphie.... Bookmakers?, card game operators?, drug guys?, shylocks? Yes, I'd say there certainly should be something. After all, Denver is a major city out that way right?

And yes, we agree, Kenji was/is a blowhard.

The only active families are

The NY 5
Philly
New England
Chicago
Jersey

Detroit and Buffalo are up for debate

It's laughable to say another other family is around and active

Chicago will die out in the next 10-20 years, there are only 8-15 active made guys left in Chicago. Most of them are all Senior citizens

Dont count Chicago out Rat. I say around 2050. Looks can be misleading. Detroit and Buffalo are still viable families with an hierarchy and more than two crews.

Chicago still has an ample recruitment pool. I don't think they'll be gone in our lifetime.

The clearest signs of a Crime Family on the ropes are age of active members, busts and how often they’re making guys.

From what we know pretty much all of the active guys for Chicago are 60-80 years old. With only about 15 active guys on the street.

Hardly anybody has been made the past 20 years and it’s not very often we get busts on Chicago guys.

It seems that for whatever reason, Chicago has basically decided that they’re done making guys and will let the family just ride out into the sunset.

I remember Kenny the JAP, (Kenji) he was on the street making moves and accepted as much as any non Italian associate would be accepted and trusted.

I never read his book but some of the stories he tells are true.

It was known he was with a legit crew.

Like almost all these guys that are selling books they are trying to make it as interesting as possible to sell.
