I found this article quite interesting. Thanks for posting it.

I also think The Pagans are a force. I know that the Hells Angels have the name. They always did. But The Pagans, although a much smaller club, are strong in the Northeast, especially NY-LI, NJ, PA, etc

When I was a kid the Pagans were very active and had a big presence in Queens and Suffolk Counties in NY. Then they went dead, and in recent years seem to be making a resurgence around the area.

The Pagans are perfect for black lives matter protestors.

Many Italian-Americans in both Pagans and 81.

One of the guys alleged to be a top guy (Conan) grew up with my brothers and lived on my block on Long Island in the 80's. He rented the top floor of his friends home and was a great guy. One night he must've been making too much noise or something, when we heard a big blast...his friend shot a shotgun out the window and straight up into the sky. I was about 15 and baby sat for that family. It was an exciting block, for sure.

I bet he passed them in as stupid a manner as he possibly could have. Out here rice rocket riders like buzzing harleys when they pass--which means invading the other riders lane and screaming by them at a very high rate of speed just inches away.

So if something happens with a car around you or an object in the road you're both dead because they took away your escape route. They deserve to be shot.

I have a hard time believing a Chase and beat down happened over simply passing on a multi lane road. Not impossible but unlikely.

Are the Pagans making a move on NYC, hence, the hit on the Pagan in NYC, months ago?
Or was that something else?

In Sicily, women are more dangerous than the shotgun.

I guess the hit on the pagans Bronx pres was retaliation for the shooting of the HA Bronx clubhouse shortly after it was opened up last year. You would think the pagans are plotting a retaliatory strike as we speak. No way they just accept the killing of their pres.

Interesting side note on the Bronx Pa*an shooting:
One of the men arrested for the killing - Sayanon "Andy" Thongawath ,has a bit of history with the Pa*ans.
Check out this link to an incident a couple years ago in Augusta County.
Even though he was only charged with minor drug possession and wasn't actually a shooter,I find it interesting that his name came up at all in an encounter so far from NYC.

Here's the link:

To avoid confusion on my previous post, it was in Augusta County ,VA, not GA. Makes it interesting since VA is pretty much a Pa*an state.

Lou, about 15 years ago didn't dozens and dozens of east coast pagans patch over to 81?

Was it something to do with when that pagan named mainge or mangy who's kid wrote that book, switched clubs while doing hard time and organized it?

Were members mad about the leadership relaxing traditional standards at that time?

That's an interesting chapter in Philly biker history. For purposes of brevity, here" a quick summary.

First off - the main players:

Steve :Gorilla: Mondevergine Former Pres. Philly Chapter, Pa*ans
Tony "Maingy" Mengine, Former Pres.Philly Chapter,Pag*ns
Thomas "Thinker" Wood Pag*n member and friend of Gorilla
Tim"Casual Flood Successor to Gorilla as Chapter Pres.

Long story short: Maingy plotted the killing of Gorilla to remove him from the Club. Gorilla was hit 9 times, but lived.
He demanded revenge from the Chapter leadership but was denied. During this time,Flood was Chapter Pres.
Then the 81 decided to make a move on the Philly territory.
Woods,Maingy, and a couple other guys patched over to the 81.
Maingy was named 81 Chapter Pres and Wood was named VP.
Maingy was also given around 300,000 bucks by the HA to assist in the transition.
Then Maingy goes to jail and Wood is bumped up to HA Chapter Pres.
A short time later,Woods is shot and killed while driving his pickup.
The Pag*n membership was incensed by the betrayal and vowed to "take back their Colors and honor"
The 81's got smart and abandoned the takeover.

Maingy is now "out bad" by both Clubs and is on the hook for the money he was fronted.
He lives like a recluse in a predominately Black neighborhood, since it would be easier to spot 1%ers riding into the area.
One Pa*an Prospect ran into him at a grocery store a few years back, and as a show of disrespect, cut Mangy's ponytail off and took it like a scalp,
Around 4-5 yrs after the patch over attempt,Gorilla barged into the 16's Clubhouse and stabbed Flood, now Chapter Pres. in the back, and shot him in the kneecap after Flood demanded that he return his Colors.
Flood survived and Gorilla did time for the assault.

There's so much more involved, but way to much to write about here. I tried to keep the details short and concise. If anyone has any feedback. updates.or corrections.please feel free to jump in.

Thanks Lou. So we're Pagans who switched 81 allowed back into the Pagans or when 81 abandoned philly were those guys just left out in the cold? Or had to go to other 81 charters if they wanted to keep a patch?

Did you read the book by Maingey's kid, Prodigal Father Pagan Son? If so what are your thoughts on it?

They call a guy in it the Saint. Do you know who that is?

He owned/owns a tattoo shop in Philly I think. It said when he left the club they sent someone to collect his bike and he basically said fuck you I gave you the gift of Gorilla.

One last thing, this guy on Gangland, starts at .30 seconds in, says he was a cook and also shot a mob member in front of the cops. I'm thinking around 1979 or so?

https://youtu.be/kDSexPd0phY

Says he was sold out. Mob gave the pagans a sportster for him so he ratted.

Would this be Maingy who did that? In the book Maingey's kid talks about an ironhead sportster he was supposed to inherit from his dad but his dad sold it. I always wondered if it was the same bike.

The guy in the video is James "Jimmy D" DeGregorio. He was a pretty hardcore Pag*n,but never Pres. He killed a young couple to prevent them from testifying against another Club member.
He was a meth cook who sold product to the Club and went to jail for the shooting of the Mob guy in Philly. That was a true incident.
While locked up,he found that his "brothers" had sold him out for $10,000 offered to them by the Mob to kill him and also to eliminate him as the middleman in the meth operation,so they could deal directly with their own cooks.
He made a nice deal with the Feds, and turned rat. One of the people he testified against in court was 'Cheyenne" Richter, son of current Pa*an Pres "Conan" Richter.
As far as the 16's who patched over to the 81 in Philly, there were probably only 4 or 5. I'm only going by my opinion and some experience, but once a 1%er patches to another Club, that's it. Not only are they not welcomed back, they are put "out bad". They are forever targeted by the Club they left, and if caught on their own, will be forced to return their Club cut prior to being beaten, possibly tortured, and possibly killed, because of the huge disrespect they demonstrated. This would apply whether or not they were accepted into other 81 chapters.Leaving the Club under acceptable conditions is one thing, but leaving to patch over is a major sin in that world.
BTW, I didn't read LT's book .
If you want some insight on ThePag*ns determination to retrieve Colors from guys that patched over to the 81,just check out this link:

Ironically Rooster Katona became Nat'l President a few years ago. For some interesting info on him, just Google Sutar"s Soldiers.

Saint is/was David Winkler. He’s no longer affiliated. And Cheyenne Richter was not Conan’s son. Cheyenne died long ago but would be older than Conan if he were still alive. I don’t think they were even related.

Winkler is occasionally on one of the local rock station morning shows. I believe he promotes his tattoo shop in delco. He’s a pretty outgoing personality. I think him and LT are friends today. I loved the book, simply bc I’m from the area and was always interested in the biker outlaw world. I’d recommend it for sure.

Also, just ordered the new one about the pagans murder for hire involving the pill doctor in south jersey. Hoping it’s good as well.

Thanks for the info.on LT's book, think I'll check it out.
I think a well done book on the April Kaufman murder would be interesting. IMHO,there's still some major grey areas and unanswered questions about that one.
BTW,found this pic online. thought you might like it.

Just a side note. Here in Pittsburgh, the Police Dept announced some changes yesterday in the way undercover cops conduct investigations, largely because of the Kopy's Bar brawl. From now on, when working a case in a bar, cops can have no more than 2 drinks in a 4 hr period, cannot drive afterwards, and are subject to testing for intoxication. There are still multiple lawsuits pending against the cops by the Pa*ans, and none of the cops involved received any real disciplinary action. In fact, believe it or not,one of the cops who was temporarily suspended and then re-instated is actually suing the Club and the bar, citing a lack of security in the bar. This coming from one of four undercover cops in the place. Of course,if the bar did have security, and they attempted to intervene,I'll bet money that the cops would have grabbed them for obstruction. If you haven't seen the surveillance video, just Google Kopy's bar,and include :brawl" or the Club name in the search.
Also using the same search terms you can read accounts of what happened. The Cops really screwed the pooch on this one.

Here's the bar video. Shows the start of the fight as well.
https://youtu.be/phi-bOeXMu8

Man they hit that one pagan like 20 times in the face while others held him. There's no way to conclude anything other than this is an instance of cops being criminal thugs and a couple of them should see the other side of the bars but they'll probably get raises.

They were so bold, I gotta wonder how many people they've rat packed before this.

Lou (or anyone really) ever read either of these two Pagan books?

https://www.amazon.com/Riding-Edge-...ns+mc+book&qid=1604108005&sr=8-7

Besides the LT book these are the only others I know of.

I read Jersey Tough, it's about a biker who became a town cop in Middletown NJ. I thought it was pretty good.

Alicecooper.this whole thing stinks to high heaven. One of the cops drank over a fifth of booze during his time at the bar. All were drunk,AND armed. They not only rat-packed DeLuca, but beat and tasered some of the other Club guys as well. Not one of the cops faced any criminal charges whatsoever.. On top of that, when Detectives took the surveillance video of the brawl,it was mysteriously"lost" or "damaged". The owner of the bar had the video backed up in the cloud,so as a result, we have the video that we've all seen. I'm not saying the Pag*ns are Boy Scouts, and I'm sure they've done their share of violence, but they're not sworn law enforcement officers like these POS cops. Our Civilian Police Review Board is a toothless dragon, and doesn't even have the authority to subpoena cops, let alone dole out any punishment.
On the bright side, that may change soon. There is a ballot referendum in the upcoming election to grant the CPRB a lot more authority in investigating cases.

Back in the mid to late 90's Joey Merlino and the gorilla did some business together, Joey had a piece of a bar in northeast philly called hammer heads and he got the peagans to go to all the other bars in the area and park their bikes out front to turn away customers which would then wind up going to hammerheads.
