Another interesting one...enjoy!

Joseph Pecora - JoJo of Pittsburgh

Joseph Pecora got his start in the La Rocca Pittsburgh Family working for underboss Michael Genovese, who tapped Pecora to oversee numbers operations.

I don't know where to start with this but the first casino on Rt. 30 in Chester W Va was Club 30. A rather large full service restaurant, lounge and casino on several aches. Zebo started as a bus-boy there. They moved literally across the street behind the Paddock bar into The Jockey Club. Chuck Teemer and Lil Bahm lived in a double wide across from the entrance to The Jockey Club. Oh hell go back, on this forum, to Club 30 and/ or Jockey Club Chester W Va where I posted the straight story on 09/07/2012.The other falsehood was that Jo Jo's "large home" in Tionesta, Pa. was a rather large and elaborate hunting camp he built for his father Charles after Pop's original camp burnt down. It was the new Charlies Roost. In addition to a commercial kitchen, full size dinning area, TV room, bath room, large "rec" room with huge fire place, pool table, card table, and a sit down bar for 6. Up stairs was 4 master bed room and baths, Jo Jo's room with whatever VIP showed up, Jo Jo's Dad's and Uncle Franks room, Michael and Charlies room, and Joe's brothers and Henry's room for whenever they came to camp. For the rest of us there was a bunk room with 6 bunk rooms and a gang shower and bath room. This was NOT Jo Jo's home! The big event was deer season, the first weekend after Thanksgiving for the next 2 weeks ending on Monday for doe season. would go there the Friday after Thanksgiving to stock-up. Joe had a local guy, Kenny, that looked after camp when it was vacant and had the 2 40 gal. propane tanks filled and everything turned on and ready for the next few weeks.Jo Jo built his house in West Va, on a piece of the Club 30 property after he got busted for traveling across State lines, he lived in Pittsburgh at the time, to operate a casino. It was a common belief that John's first choice as successor would have been Jo Jo as he was viewed to be more similar to John, a man of the people. However Joe's incarceration put an end to that. I remember they spent quite a bit of money to get Joe to service his time in a Federal prison in Lexington Ky. on a former house farm. My Dad and I went to visit Joe a couple of times and I learned a valuable lesson. I said to him that this was quite a place and not a bad way to do your time. He said: "Ya but if you want to go out and get a pizza, there just ain't no way. It reminds you that the greatest thing we have is our freedom"!
