Tommy Gambino has been retired for about 20 years now. Once mobsters like him leave the life, how do they really keep the money coming in so they can support their way of life? Tommy must have been used to the good life because of his lavish lifestyle so that furthers the question. I read that Tommy has a house in Florida and I believe in Beverly Hills too. Jerry Catena, Philip Lombardo and Decavalcante are other examples.

Tommy Gambino is seriously loaded. Probably in the top 10 or even 5 of all American mobsters when it comes to net worth. He makes a lot of donations to medical research, even having the Gambino Medical and Science Foundation named after him. Guys who are that wealthy and make large contributions to things like that don't do it solely because they have a giving heart. They do it because they have that much cash flow and can write it off their taxes.

Where did you read that about his net worth? I wouldn’t doubt it though.

That is correct. How much of their legitimate businesses do you think the mob lets them keep? Bonanno got to keep his legitimate businesses when he retired I think.

Do you think there’s any chance that he’s a billionaire or close to it?

I doubt he's a billionaire. The difference between a millionaire and billionaire is the difference between $1 and $1000. I wouldn't be surprised if he's worth at least $100 million though. We have to realize that his money isn't just from his own lucrative rackets. Undoubtedly his father left him a nice amount as well.

Yes he has kids. When he married Frances, and Gaetano Lucchese passed away, he left half of his interests in the garment business and trucking to Thomas and Frances.

"According to court documents, the seized records included information about Mr. Gambino's personal investments. The court papers provided no details, but a law-enforcement official said the records showed that his trucking companies grossed more than $40 million last year, and made $13 million in profit. The records also suggested that Mr. Gambino was worth about $100 million"

$100 million in 1990? I wonder how much his net worth has grown since then if that number is accurate. I saw someone post something about him and his family owning a huge trucking company in New Jersey too but that just might be rumors. I also read a comment about him being seen having lunch with a top JP Morgan executive one day. I saw both comments on social media.

Carlo set him up to succeed. As well as other members of the family. Did Carlo want the family to go legit with his choice of Castellano as his successor? Or did he just believe that Paul would make the family more lucrative than Neil would?

I bet that he socialized with some but I doubt he was deeply involved. I didn’t know that he owned some blocks worth of real estate in Manhattan. If that is so then he might be worth more than Ponte’s family with all of their real estate.

He possibly can keep the legitimate stuff he acquired and all the family business stays with family.

Now this doesn’t always work ,it all depends on how much you kick along the way and who you are and how important you are to the family.

But someone like him was aloud to semi-retire and keep his legitimate stuff and possibly some of his gains along the way.

But remember he or them are only semi-retired ,and can be called back if shit hits the fan.

Wasn't part of his sentence to give up part of their trucking business. Monopolized hauling in the garment district. It's time for a Tommy Gambino documentary. That's the difference between him and Michael franzese. He made $100s of millions but you don't hear a peep.

Use the search tool on this board to read previous discussions and to see some cool photos. You can also google for Thomas Gambino and “Dynamic Trucking” to see the company they run.

I think this guy is Thomas Gambino’s son / Carlo’s grandson (so this guy who runs Dynamic is Tommy, Jr) and he has another brother named Carl Gambino.

Either that or this Thomas is Carl’s son and Carlo’s greatgrandson.

Either way, kudos on them for being 100% legit. Which is the whole point of being a criminal to get paid a and setup your family nicely so they don’t have to be criminals.

This is true. Sonny and Michael Franzese made no bones about who they were and they wanted everyone to know their rep. Carlo was very low profile even though he probably had money just like Michael or at least had access to money like Michael via his underlings. Does anyone know much about Lombardozzi? I always hear about him being one of the biggest earners for the mafia with his Wall Street connections.

lombardozzi is interesting alot of his family were members of the gambnos and still today. there was some rumblings he was a top infomant in the 60tys and probaly stoped because he was active in the family and went to prison in the early 80tys for tax stuff. when he died he had a big wake where alot of guys turned out. only in the last few years the internet slueths connected some dots he might have gave the fbi info in the 60tys. he was also slated for death having a kid out of wedlock with another made mans daughter or someshit maybe wife. he money making abilitys got him a pass ive read.

Yes it was Sammy ‘Mintz’ Muro’s daughter. Muro was in his crew.

That leads me to a question. How well off were the kids and grandkids of some of the original bosses? We know Carlo left his family in great shape. His kids are business moguls because of him. The same can be said for Profaci’s kids because they are some of the biggest players in the olive oil industry. What about the family of Vito Genovese, Joe Bonnano and Tommy Lucchese?

Would this affect the living relatives of lomardozzi still in the life? Their reps may be historically based on their connection to this legend that had a flirt with the feds back in the day. To be fair none of the info that supposedly came from him seemed heavy - mainly just bs about some Baltimore crew and some mob rumours of the day. He clearly had a lot more knowledge than what he gave being a ranking member of the family so maybe he was playing games with the feds. Also feds in the 60s I’m sure could easily lie as they can do now..
