Has the American mafia ever had any influence over large banks? It is said that the American mafia used the teamsters pension fund as a bank. The Italian mafia has long been in control of many big banks in Italy but the same can’t be said for America as banks like Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan always appeared to be too big and powerful for the American mafia to really penetrate and milk a lot of cash from. I believe that the Italians’ ability to work so well in these type of sectors has enabled them to make as much money as they are making today(Billions of dollars). If an American mob boss was a silent partner in a large investment fund and had controlling interest then he would be incredibly wealthy much like the Sicilians, ndrangheta and Camorra members who generate billions.

I recently saw a documentary on Roy DeMeo who was elected to the board of directors of the Brooklyn Credit Union. He was involved in embezzling and money laundering with Nino Gaggi. Eventually the bank went bankrupt and they both were able to get away with it.

I think Bank of America, was originally the Back of Sicily, not that it proves anything.

In Sicily, women are more dangerous than the shotgun.

I didn’t know that. Just how much more rich and powerful are the Sicilians and Calabrese when compared to the Americans? I always hear on here about how the top earners in Italy dwarf the top American earners. I am not sure if they made more than earners like some of the Genovese guys, Franzese or Sal Romano but they have earners who at least rival them. Denaro is the richest.

That’s a good point, not to mention that the murder of Calvi, with Bianca Ambrosiano, which was a Vatican Bank. That assassination has been linked to P2, the mob, etc.

The North of Italy is where the banking magnates of Europe reside, Milano, Genoa, Venice and Florence, I believe. Merchant of Venice type of stuff, that is why the house of Rothschild is only the custodian to the Papal Wealth.

When the line between Mafiosi disappears between masonry or whatever, and includes the like of Denaro or Riina and members of those Banking Houses, the wealth and opulence must be astronomical.

Similar to Immobillare in #3.

That’s true because the Ndrangheta has strong ties to the north.

Ya bro, I think the saying is ‘the best way to hide something, is put it right in front of people’s faces’, these people are the best of the best.

You are right. And also, I agree with you in saying that the American mafia never really broke into the circles of the super rich and powerful the way that the Sicilians and the Ndrangheta did. There are billionaire bosses who seemingly control everything in those two organizations. At one point the American mafia might have been close but definitely not anymore. From the mid 80s and on they have really been crippled by law enforcement.

They were definitely around Kennedy via Sinatra via Luciano, Giancana, etc. I think Costello was running in Socialite circles in Manhattan, maybe Astor and DuPont.

All three of those Families I am pretty sure are Families within the Federal Reserve.

I think Tommy Gambino is pretty close with big financial institutions. He might be worth close to a billion today if he really was worth over $100 mill in the 1990s.

Seems like there is a lot of Sigs around the Gambino and NYC, that would be interesting.

I’m not sure how close the American mob still is with high level financial institutions. Like you said about the Italian mafiosi who are also Freemasons, it appears to that they operate in a different tax bracket and are in the upper upper echelon. I am not sure if Matteo Messina Denaro is a Freemason or not but either way it’s not helping him. He’s hiding. Georgio DeStefano is a Freemason. I’m positive there are many more within the mafia.

Multiple members of the Bufalino family and Buffalo/Magaddino were board members of 2 banks. Before pleading guilty to perjury Denaples was the majority stockholder of 2 banks in the NEPA area and was the only person in the country who owned 100% of a Casino. No partners, no shareholders. He owned 100% of Mt Airy before D’elia became a rat. They weren’t Wells Fargo and Mt Airy isn’t the Bellagio but both banks and the Casino have/are combined assets into the 100s of billions of dollars. To this day one of the Medico’s are still board members and have over 100million in government contracts that stretch into 2028. Still lots of old money and real estate left over from the family’s heyday.

It has been alleged that Carlos Marcello controlled or had interest in a number of banks through Herman Beebe. These banks were in Louisiana, Texas and Oklahoma. Herman Beebe was also connected to some New York mobsters.
I think it would take a team of dedicated forensic accountants to figure out all of Marcello's business interests.

Bank of America was founded by Amadeo Giannini in 1904 as Bank of Italy because the other banks doesnt want the money of the italian immigrants in 1906 after the San Francisco earthquake the bank grown until Giannini buy the bank of America and italy.
