I feel like before Lucky organized things, everyone was just at risk of being betrayed & set up by their right hand man.

Most definitely not true. Nowhere outside of the motherland is more powerful than the five freaking families. Not even close. The Outfit were powerful but they simply did not possess the numbers necessary to put them over the top. They were *always* destined to lose the war on the streets to the black & Hispanic gangs, it was only a matter of time. Chicago is NOT NY. The fact that an LCN family thrived the way they did in MIDWESTERN MURICA of all places is jaw dropping enough as it is. It was a bizarre phenomenon to begin with, and there’s a reason why they fell harder than any other murican LCN family.

First define the word “power”.

In LCN, it appeared to be the one with the most $$$$$.
Although partially true, in a criminal organization, I put being able to get YOUR way done overrides the amount of money you have. Eventually, you meet someone that money cannot persuade.

There are plenty examples of bigger earners with less “power” than ones who make less.

Michael Franzese
Wasn’t Narducci Sr. a millionaire too?
Frank Costello had both until he didn’t

They were for a long time the most powerful family in America, but in the 70s and 80s were a hard time for them and from then NY surpassed them.
