A lazy eye (amblyopia) reduced vision in one eye caused by abnormal visual development early in life.

Hollander, Bufalino spent vacation down in Tampa in the 1940s as a guest of Salvatore Scaglione. There is a rare picture of Pittston members Charles and Russell Bufalino with Tampa members Frank and Thomas Diecidue, Salvatore, Nick and Al Scaglione at The Nebraska Bar that was owned by the Trafficante family. Picture is believed to have been taken early 1950s.

St. Louis it was the Parrino brothers who were related to the Parrino brothers in the Bufalino crime family, John Ferrara, the Giordanos, and the Cammaratas.

They were made bosses of their family around the same time, and shared common interests in Unions. They were not that far apart, members and associates of Bufalino family would frequent Philadelphia or New Jersey topass through there on their way to Delaware, Maryland ect. Bufalino actually met Bruno when Bufalino was a capo and Bruno was an associate in Florida when they were on vacation at the same time in the Tampa area, actually Bruno was vacationing in Miami and was meeting with a Salvatore Italiano lieutenant about setting up a joint business, while Bufalino was visiting family friends in the area. That encounter was the start of their friendship. Bufalino time vacationing in Tampa or Miami also helped to form stronger friendships with the Genovese and Lucchese crime families, and that helped along by Anthony Carfano and Joseph Lucchese.

Bufalino relationship with the Genovese crime family started when he moved away from Buffalo and lived in Kingston started him on making connections to other crime families, notable New York. Bufalino first encounter with the Genovese crime family was through an unnamed soldier in Carafano crew who introduced the two, to talk about gambling machines, and setting a better cost efficiency for garment manufacturing, which in turn Carfano put Bufalino in contact with Joseph Lucchese.

GV, your posts are pretty in depth. Where do you get all of this information? You don't post about one family, but rather many. Keep em coming.

Lilo Galante held a gathering at his daughter's home in Hampton Bays on Labor Day once, for instance, which according to officials was attended by Bufalino.

He had good relationship with Bonanno through Joe Barbara and Endicott crew. Bonanno, Bufalino, and Magaddino crime families had strong family relationships through the members in those families. Alfano, Cannone, Galante, and Vultaggio families off the top of my head. Gioachino Parisi was also a former Gambino member and related to the Mangano who moved out of New York City. Bufalino was a good friends to Vincent Mangano and Frank Castellano through both Dandy Jack and his uncle Rosario. Profaci, can't find anything to say they were close, only Joe Bonanno was around did Salvatore Profaci or Ambrosio Magliocco come on the scene. After Colombo was shot, the Colombo crime family went into a few partnerships with members of the Bufalino crime family from 1970s till early 1990s, after that there does not seem to be many joint operations, except in interstate business transactions but far from what they were making before then.

is there any truth to bufalino being made acting boss for the genovese family at some point after the imprisonment of genovese?
this scenario was mentioned in the irishman/paint houses book(for what its worth) and in the bufalino quiet don book.
i had never heard of this before reading both books and seems far fetched considering the amount of powerful and important leader in family at the time.

Bufalino was a good friend of Lansky and Alo, the Genovese had a great respect for him. He was probably more an adviser I think nothing official.

He spent time with members from New Jersey, and New york, mainly members from Genovese and Luchese. Benny Pizzolato, the Abate brothers, the Accardi brothers, the Dicarlo brothers this goes back to when he was still living in Buffalo, and the Dolasco brothers, Joseph Lucchese and Joseph Rosato. He spent so much time with these members that it is easy for members from other families believing he was with the Lucchese crime family.
Genovese members Anthony Carafano, Joe Adonis, Vincent Alo, the Moretti brothers, Peter LaPlaca, Michael Genovese, Juliano Gazzio, the Bongiorno brothers, Matteo Fortunato, Carmine San Giacomo, and the Toriello brothers.
From the 1940s to the 1950s these were the members he socialized more often for members of the five families. Philadelphia he did a lot of business with Marco Reginelli and Dominic Olivetto. Reginelli did business with Paolo Amato a member of the Decavalcante family which allowed Bufalino to get a foot in AC. A lot of Nicknames which it makes hard to identify many of the other members, especially during his time in Buffalo.

GV, I haven't read Sheeran's book yet and I know his claims are widely disputed, but how much influence did Buffalino really have in some of these infamous hits like Anastasia? The movie makes it seem like he literally made the call although I doubt that's true. It would seem the movie and Sheeran's claims put him in the Gambino-Costello faction of the conflict with Vito Genovese. Did he really have a say in some of the more significant mob events of that time?

So those government scumbags basically waited for him to get out of prison after serving his sentence to charge him with conspiring to kill Jack Napoli. I also think it's shitty that they call an attempt to collect a debt extortion, that's not extortion, even if violence was used, because he owed that money. Extortion is forcing someone to pay something they don't owe.

Sorry for the late response. Dont believe everything in the book. Bufalino knew someone was going to get hit in New York City, but he didn't have a say in it and only realized who it really was when he heard Albert Anastasia was killed. Bufalino was more as an adviser to other families due to the amount of respect he both gave and received, but he did not know all of those families troubles, dealings, and other things. Bufalino gave his opinion on the Hoffa matter, but the Genovese, Gambino, and Lucchese families were pushing for the hit, Decavalcante and Boston were mixed on it, but ultimately Hoffa angered Detroit where they recommended that Hoffa be hit. Hoffa hit was solely done by Detroit.

The movie The Irishman is complete fucking fiction, I'm very disappointed with Martin Scorsese for making this damn movie. At least with Goodfellas and Casino, it was mostly true. However with The Irishman he went totally left field.
