Are both these families now dormant or do they still exist?

British is best....

I believe the Smaldones of Denver were connected to the Dragnas in LA. There's a book about them I've been meaning to read. I believe Milwaukee was always under Chicago even though they technically had their own boss. As far as today I have to guess Denver has been defunct for decades, but I'm sure Milwaukee has at least a small Chicago presence.

"...the successful annihilation of organized crime's subculture in America would rock the 'legitimate' world's foundation, which would ultimately force fundamental social changes and redistributions of wealth and power in this country. Meyer Lansky's dream was to bond the two worlds together so that one could not survive without the other." - Dan E. Moldea

Don’t know much about Denver other than this:

Gambling-ring leader Jeffrey Castardi sentenced to 16 years:

Big names drawn to illegal Denver poker club:

As for Wisconsin:

For legal reasons I can’t name any specific names, but at least a handful of ‘made men’ still live in Milwaukee. The bulk of organized crime in the state today is centered in Kenosha but don’t count Milwaukee out just yet—The Mafia is a candle that’s hard to snuff out.

Kenosha is 12% Italian, lots of Calabrese people. They kept moving there well into the 1970’s.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the Ndrangheta uses it as a quiet off-the-radar “bank town” (a location for money laundering, not for street-level rackets) similarly to Thunder Bay, Ontario.

- Racine

I think Italians in Racine went downhill when DeRango’s got busted. I remember Joe Athens and his crazy mom. He went down in PA with a van full of money he was laundering for the mob. So his mom had his mansion and everything while he was locked up. At least the ballistrieris still have the loot.

So much of the SE WI mob was not even italian. One of the leaders of the Keno mob was a guy named Oberlin.
