i think conte had something to do with toto rianna starting the war over ther in the early 80tys cause the gambinos n inzerillos(USA side) were taking over the dope market in the late 70tys early 80tys. conte was doi9ng it since the 50tys. who told toto rianna about all the money they were making in the usa?

You don’t think he would be part of the administration? Wasn’t he part of the three man ruling panel before getting pinched?

I havent read Excellent Cadavers in years, but I think Bontade and Inzerillo were supplying everyone from Conte, to the Cherry Hill Binos, to the Rizzutos, to Catalano and the Bonannos. So everybody was getting it from Palermo.

The Pizza Connection was a huge trial, the biggest federal trial in US history at the time, but didnt catch everyone. It only focused on the Catalano faction. So amazingly the real conspiracy couldve been several times bigger.

So, I’m sure everyone in Sicily knew how much the Palermo bosses were making. And the Corleonese wanted to take control from them and have it for themselves.

But Riina fucked it all up by killing way too many people... too many generations of top quality gangsters were wiped out. And killed too many civilians, judges, politicians, etc that the Italian state was forced to intervene. Shit was too public and brought way too much heat. Just like Pablo Escobar: Once you go to war against the state you’re basically begging for the military to get involved.

The Sicilian mafia before Riina had almost total freedom to operate... the Italian state was so corrupt they essentially left them alone.. i.e. “There is no mafia!”. But Riina forced them to clamp down and now wiseguys cant grab a cup of coffee in Italy without catching an indictment. And that 41-bis law is hardcore. That’s why so many have gone to Canada.

I actually dont care what anyone says....RIINA WAS THE WORST BOSS IN HISTORY!! BAR NONE...

The guy was more terrorist than mafiosi, like he shoulda been a Red Brigade or some shit like that....

RUINED, cosa nostra overthere.... and the bosses that backed em, have only themselves to blame....

30, 40 years later and they are sucking up to the Inzerillos, needing their money and connections....

And the Inzerillos shoulda just stayed in NY, away from Sicilian mafia politics, all it gets them is locked up... and their money confiscated....

And you are right, Inzerillo was the undisputed controller of the American market. And we SEE how close they are to the Gambinos.

The Rizzutos were below them in the structure, under the Caruana- Cuntreras, who were partners with John Gambino and Greco.... and the Napolis...

And to my understanding.... Contes dope ring was run by Riccardo Cefalu, this is where Domenico Cefalu comes from. Conte wasnt respected on the streets, common knowledge he bought his button apparently.....

I doubt Conte cares if he was respected, he was a capo and filthy rich. Was able to integrate himself in the legit world as a big businessman and his kickup was insane he was probably near a Galante/Bonanno level smack dealer. Gotti instructed Gravano to tell Conte to restart his pipeline thats how much he earned.

Not every mobster needs to take a life to be an asset. He made tens of millions, lived the last 14 years of his life free and only did 7 and a half years. They retired him because of that but I doubt he was upset.

there was no mention of patsy conte passing away. guess it was a quiet wake. im reading a old new york times article in 1994 about conte. he goes to trial with 2 other guys they get a hung jury. pretty sure sammy the bull testifified at the first trial. the retrial comes in summer 94 and you know he has the best lawyers in nyc, they work out a 7yr plea covering all types of shit and murders. they even were gonna put his brother anthony conte on the stand against him. the feds had him on money laundering. conte admitted membership to. probaly said in his plea hes part of a organization or whatever all the guys do today. guess it drove john gotti mad he went against the no plea deals. john gambino also went against the no plea deals. mikey scars said john gotti also broke john gambino down but bumped him back to a capo around 2000. pat conte was deffintily a interesting guy. i wonder why he orderd pietro alfano shooting during the pizza connection trial??? i think dom cefulo was a shooter maybe or he might have been locked up. but he became a member in 1990 and conte proposed him

Patsy Conte's definitely one of the most low key successful mobsters. Big time heroin dealer, big time "legit" businessman. Minimal prison time. Got away with murder. Died a free man.
