Capeci wrote a good article on this today. A old construction guy from brooklyn with a huge company was marked by gaspipe and vic as a rat. They wanted his company . He was about to be whacked but it was botched. He goes to anthony spero for protection starts paying him annual 7gs a year back in the late 80tys. He was still paying it to guys who came up threw speros crews till like 2015. Money went up to 15gs a year but for almost 30yrs and you can imagine all the favors he must have had to do.
