What did non-NYC families like Philly and Boston have to say about the Donnie Brasco infiltration and the Joe Bonanno TV interview? Did they have the same reaction as the ones in NYC?

As 4 that time period , there was enough shit going down in Phila.( between the Bruno & Testa murders & Scarfo filling the void & streets w/ blood ) that I don't think anyone in Philly was really paying attn. or cared 4 that matter.

I didn't want to leave blood on your carpet...

In a History Channel documentary, it's stated that a couple of Bonanno family members doubted Brasco's authenticity as a jewel thief because he would never agree to perform any robberies with family members. It took a sit-down to save his life. Has anyone ever heard this account?

that was very early on in the operation when he was with the Colombos. They called a contact that Donnie/Joe had given them and he vouched for him

the boston guys didnt learn anything from it. 1986 made mman spucky spag... and a few other guys brought a undercover into a drug and gambling operation they all got abunch of time. the fbi guys had like joint operations using there undercovers in different towns make cases. like donnie said his friemd in milwalkee was into vending machines a nother friend undercover ran clubs in florida. all the familys got infiltraded. maybe the donnie brasco bonanno was the most know cause he quit the fbi to write books and go hollywood

He tells that story in just about every documentary he’s appeared in. They told him ‘you either convince us you’re as good as they say you are or the only way you’re getting out of here is rolled up in that rug’

i knew this guy when i was a kid we bought weed off of. the guy over decade or 2 made tons of money. smart guy to. then he got trapped in a sting. there was a dea agent posing as a coke kingpin and the guy we used to buy weed off tried to buy 10 kilos of coke offhim. i could never wrap my brain across how he got fooled into buying or attemping to buy off a dea agent. 1 someone must have been busted by them and introduced the weed guy to the dea guy to get off a big case. this guy must have been convincing as hell. cause the weed guy was or atleast i thought a street dude who was really smart. he ended up with 17 yrs . they took a ton of cash he got found with to. just crazy a street guy could be so fooled. this dude was a crazy puerto rican but cool. must have been blinded by greed. hes been trying to get a entrapment appeal for the last few yrs. i dont think it worked.

They do this reverse buy shit all the time. The entrapment defense never works. I was NEVER found in possession of a gram of coke, a gram of weed or a gun that wasn’t legally mine but guess what I got over 10 years. All it takes is for a few rats to go in front of the grand jury and it’s over. If the Feds KNOW what you are doing it doesn’t mean shit if they can’t prove it. They will find a way to back your ass into a corner and you either take a plea you can live with or roll the dice. Rolling the dice against a machine such as the Feds with with a 97% conviction rate is a lose lose.

it was something like he gave the agent a shoe box of money and when he got what the product he would give him the rest of the money i even think they gave him or showed him bricks of fake shit but it was probaly real how else would they covince my weed guy they were legit. just crazy he didnt look into the background ask around for people to vouch for him and who ever did vouch for the agent was deffinitly trying to work his way out of a big case. yaeh he was saying i read a appeal something like entrapment he was forced into the buy or some bullshit. the wanted him bad cause he made tons of money over 20yrs. i didnt even know he left the weed game to go to the pros. he shouldnt have and paid the price. i think they offerd him 15mando so he said fuck it went to trial. i think he might have a shot at trumps new prison reform thing he was a first time cocaine offender but maybe cause the weight it dont matter

According to one account I read about wiretaps in the Commission case, the government caught plenty of Mob guys pissing and moaning about Bonanno's autobiography ("A Man of Honor") and what it revealed. Ironically, when Rudy Giuliani was US Attorney for the Southern District of NY, he read the Bonanno book and found that Bonanno's description of the Commission's workings was a perfect example of a "Racketeer Influenced Corrupt Organization" under the still-new RICO Act. It was the basis of his successful prosecution of the Commission case.

Much as I respect Joe Pistone and enjoyed his book, I seriously doubt that the Commission put a half-million-dollar price on his head. The Commission doesn't maintain and pay a private army to assassinate enemies of the Mafia--they leave that to the individual families. The only thing Dons have in common is greed and distrust of each other. Why would the other families contribute a dime to get revenge on Pistone when the dumb-ass Bonannos were the ones who brought him in?
