Pizzeria blocked from opening in Pa. casino over alleged ‘mob ties’
Updated Nov 20; Posted Nov 20
Lombardi’s pizzeria was to have a new home inside the Parx casino in Bensalem, Pa., but the deal was blocked for a reason seemingly ripped from a rejected Godfather script.

Lombardi’s is billed as America’s oldest pizzeria, founded in New York’s Little Italy.

The pizza business, owned by Michael Giammarino, was to have a new home inside the Parx casino in Bensalem, Pa., but the deal was blocked for an alleged reason seemingly ripped from a rejected Godfather script.

According to Philly.com, the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board moved to revoke Giammarino’s permit, with state investigators saying he and his pizza shop were unsuitable to be a gaming service provider “due to his associations with reputed organized crime members.”

Philly.com writes Parx paid Giammarino $155,000 for his investment but dropped Lombardi's. Instead, it opened a pizzeria under the name Oliveto earlier this year.

Ever since, Giammarino has been attempting to clear his name, and has challenged the decision, Philly.com adds, quoting the 53-year-old pizza maker as saying:

"Everybody's going to make the assumption that I'm mobbed up, and it's not true."

No word yet on whether the dough will rise on his appeal.

If the allegation were baseless, why won't he sue? He doesn't want to open that can of worms for some reason. Also, if you're not mobbed up, try to avoid saying some of the exact same things that every mobbed up person says, like "people think I'm mobbed up, but it's just not true". Oh, well hey.

He´s probably related to Anthony “Buckwheat” Giammarino of the Genoveses.

There's no way they could get a foothold in the casinos. They were only able to do that in Vegas because they had front men who were able to buy the casinos with teamster loans. The gaming boards are all over that now. I think this guy just wanted his restaurant there to expand. These gaming boards can deny anyone for any reason, and since his place has a history, that's all they needed. They'd rather play it safe with a place like Pizza Hut than risk bad publicity.

I know youre right Oak i was being facetious... but trust me living here and having gone to these places multiple times they could use some classing up

Anyone know more about that Gambino guy or his step father Brescio who is a Genovese capo? Ive never heard of him but thats not uncommon with WS guys

Wonder if the Philly fam has made any attempts to do anything at the PA casinos. I know yrs ago Joey got banned from the one in Fishtown and i know about the AC bust but Parx is in Bucks where Lucibello was/is in charge of and Harrahs is in Chester right near Borgesi’s Delco turf. I know its not 1965 anymore and they aint skimming profits w the Teamsters but just any sort ot crimes or scams
