I find Carlo to be one of the most interesting people in LCN. He seemed to slow play his hand to the top.....He had the power to eliminate anyone he wanted....He seemed to never get his hands dirty AND, most importantly, he gave the illusion that he was the nice old man next door....He never flaunted anything except his CG1 license plate.

What the heck did he do with all that money?

Just a very interesting character that’s facts will probably never be known publicly.

What Carlo made of his money? Real estates and legit bussiness for sure. For a movie I don't think.Carlo Gambino life isn't the mobster life that hollywood love a good book that reconstructs the life of gambino from the arrival in America to 1957 would be a great book and for sure I would buy it too, even if only in English.

That's true, Furio, but it never stopped writers and film-makers from fictionalizing the lives of gangsters whenever they thought they could make money.

You can fictionalize the don Carlo life has you want but the people want more movie like Godfellas than the Godfather.

@furio i don't think so, but isn't easy to make a movie like godfather.

Another problem you can make a movie over "better streethustler" nobody is pissed off. But if you start to make a movie about Gambino. You need talk about some "hard to prove" stuff. Dirty real estate business with white collar guys. So much storys with politiciansl and Judges. Drugs...

I would also love a movie about New York specially Manhatten. Between 1975 and 1990 about real estate, austerity, White Collar guys like Rockefeller, Trump and on the other side the mob and his involvement in cement and construction. Noir pure

Movie series The Deuce touch the topic litte bit.

I think a lot of Michael Corleone's maneuvering and double talking was based on the way Carlo played both ends against the middle to get to where he was.

"...the successful annihilation of organized crime's subculture in America would rock the 'legitimate' world's foundation, which would ultimately force fundamental social changes and redistributions of wealth and power in this country. Meyer Lansky's dream was to bond the two worlds together so that one could not survive without the other." - Dan E. Moldea

I'd like a Carlo book/movie too but I think the same reasons we won't see a Scarfo book or movie prevent it.

There are still Gambino relatives involved in the life. So you might be able to get by on a fictionalized version, but it's doubtful that a complete, concise biography would ever be created.

The film makers and authors might be afraid to take on a Gambino project because of retribution from the Mob and from his family. Remember how Columbo coerced Coppola into dropping references to "Mafia" and "Cosa Nostra" while he was filming "The Godfather"?

Would make a great book if the author really did their research. Most people who are interested in the mob probably already know his life story but I don't think it has ever been laid out in thorough detail, dispelling myths and providing new info.

Movie? No, too long of a life story to do it justice. Mini-series? Perhaps.

Turnbull, were in 2018 not 1972. As I say a movie or a mini serie on Carlo Gambino haven't the same appell that an average mafia movie have. The people want a mobster that kill, wear expensive clothes, bang many girls ecc not a secretive boss that stay in the shadow and use the others to do the dirty work.
Its more propable that will made a movie on crazy Joe Gallo that on Don Carlo.

That creepy Varga guy on the Fargo tv series was similar to Carlo, too. He even lectures someone about the importance of laying low and dressing down. Writers might have been influenced a little by Carlo when creating him.

I don't think a realistic movie about a guy like that would be so interesting to a lot of people. The old bosses like him liked to keep a low profile.
