In the 2004 new jersy organized crime report it.says at the time half of the 50 members of philly family were jailed and another 15 were inactive so there were only 10 active guys? That seems more like a small crew not a family. What about now? How many active members do you estimate? and to what extent do they still control the local rackets? Thanks.

My guess probaly 25 made guys in philly 10 in new jersey active? There was only like 4 capo when scarfo was at his peak in 1985. There was only 2 in philly then 1 in north jersey and that guy santo idone who had 1 soldier. Id bet theres probaly 3 4 tops capos. To many chiefs not anuff indians.

Lucibello isn't a captain anymore and I'm guessing Angelina isn't either.

Marty got knocked down after the assault charge on the shore. Sonny has taken over the south jersey borgata.

is there any philly guys in trenton or camden not really the inner city parts cause ive seen there like 3rd world countrys but the burbs. or even cherry hill. but id assume john gambino and his cousins probaly had that on lock down since they got out of prison. actually just looking on a map of the area seems like camden nj is cherry hill or there side by side. no wonder guys were pissed at bruno for letting the gambinos operate there its like a few miles from philly

Wow, I didn't know Angelina got kicked down, and what has Sonny done to be in charge of South Philly? Is he acting?

WOW that's unbelievable in this day and age the family that has a boss that is "PUBLIC ENEMY #1"

His LCN family was able to grow by about 100%

Also, Skinny had not sure if he still has a crew in FL

Absolutly not. After scarfo philly family reduced to a street gang;now ligambi rebuilted the family but lost most of his power, for example now doesn't had numbers to impose a street tax like in the glorious days.

It’s nothing like it was 79-90 the guys that were left that knew what was what were in the joint or dead . Chuckie was feeding Skinny info to get money but still with Stanfa not knowing 1/3 of what was going on in the tristate area ....and you all know the rest !

But guys left on street were bottom of the barrel....

I was responding to a post that said under Scarfo there were 4 crews and now there are 7
And in that 7 they didn't list Florida at all.

From what I read Skinny had a crew in Fl

As for quality I think across the board quality will.never be close to what it was.

Whether in NYC, Detroit or Philly.

If you read anything that Sonny Girard wrote he breaks that down better than anyone I have seen.

Past generations that came.from Sicily living conditions were so ruff that jail wasn't too far off.

Growing up in that environment produces a certain tuffness you become conditioned to be a certain way.
In the Italian ghetto's growing up was very tuff.
With few options to get out of that environment.

LCN back then for alot of guys in the Italian ghetto was the least path of resistance.

Today's generation for the most part are Americanized SPOILED.

In the ghetto you grew up fighting everyday now that environment does not exist.

For Italians anyway.

Bensonhurst brooklyn.in the 80's and 90's it was like the wild west very often bodies were left in the street for everyone to see, if you get out of line that could happen to you.
Or a guy would disappear and that was that.

Nowadays for the most part in America that's just not how it is.

The old guard is gone forever guys like Sonny Franzese etc.
You may get a guy here and there that is old school but that is more the exception than the norm.
In my opinion.

It was definitely a rough, blue collar, working class neighborhood back in the day especially.

Ghetto meaning all.one ethnic group.

Today the last remaining Italian ghetto that I know of in NYC is Staten Island.

My time growing bensonhurst was a middle class neighborhood.

We didn't endure those harsh poor conditions more of the wild west because the wisefuys and social clubs were everywhere and they just weren't afraid to kill you they chose to.

Previous generations were poorer and Italians were no welcomed with open arms when the masses immigrated from Sicily.
Also, about thatbtine was the great depression the whole country had it tuff.

Also WW-2 more Italians serves in the military then any other nationality.

The guys that serves in the war those guys were tuff.

I mean war was different back then.

Look at Normandy Beach those guys ran into the bullets and bombs.

I was referring to two different time frames in my post.

In the 90's when I am growing up the older men in the neighborhood the previous generation was ww-2 era .

They had it really tuff, the generation before me.
