What about weed even though I don't even consider it "drugs"? Do the wise guys under 50 burn like the movers & shakers in my part of the US

I didn't expect heroin. I do know many vory v zakone are users a habit they picked up in prison. In Italy/Europe it's coke. They forgot about the rule "Don't Get High On Your Own Supply".

Weed is not really popular.

I think that to fight the stress many mobsters become alcoholics or compulsive gamblers maybe help to smoke weed because both heroin or cocaine are dangerous and made unrealible a man; like Bommarito son Carlo that was killed with an overdose because was a junkie.

Al d'Arco son Joseph had a heroin addiction, but stopped using when he went on methadon. When he was made in '89 he already stopped using H a couple of years before. When he and his dad went in to the WPP the feds had to go fetch some methadon for Joey because he became sick after a couple of days because he couldn't get to his local clinic anymore where he had a prescription.

There are also 2 guys in the Genovese Springfield crew who were on H/methadon: Santaniello and Calvanese.

Anthony TG Graziano and Frank Coppa of the Bonannos were known for snorting cocaine from time to time..

Think about it logically they are ppl...

Do athletes use drugs?
Do accountants use drugs?
Do lawyers use drugs?
Ect

I'm a successful cpa and I was a dope head for years and NO ONE knew... that's working at a Fortune 500 company I would imagine a soldiers daily life style is a little less stressful and it would be easier...

And I'm not the AA/NA type I just stay away from opiates so i still drink and do blow occasionally...

So I would imagine whatever the normal % is of population that uses drugs ... they would fall right in if not higher in my opinion with easier access and less real responsibility....

It's just like the rest of the country, some do some don't.

But this generation that are in there 20-40 are heavy into opiates just like the general population .

I know many back in the day that would use coke and even some that would use meth.

Some guys just detest it and they have surrounded of them selfs with guys that do same. I would say 70%guys did not fuck with drugs.

And out of the 30% 10% of those used heavy , heavy being more then just Friday and Saturday night.

Then as years went on and opiates came on the seen it was 24/7 because of the getting from a doctor shit.

Makes them feel and be able to say they don't of will never use street drugs and the whole time they are hooked !!!!

Its funny but from the italians i been around in the city a lot of them look down their nose at weed but most are alchoholics and pill poppers and a lot do blow too. Now thats not to say some of the younger guys dont smoke and a few move tons of pot, but for whatever reason thier id a stigma with pot. I can tell you for certain just about all the merlino guys are stone cold drunks

Im half a drunk myself so no judgement here haha. The way some of the 50+ guys judge pot is absurd though but that probably goes back for years and is kinda like a carryover from past times

I also have a hunch that the Merlino guys snort coke- they're pretty big partiers from what I've seen and heard. It's just a hunch.....nothing concrete

These guys are in their mid-fifties.

10 years from now and Merlino will be using a zimmer frame and starting fights in strip clubs and getting banned from more casinos.

Scarpa smoked a lot of weed with linda schiro. He also thought and technically was a james bond type character.

Me and my guys went pretty hard until our mid-late 20s but now in my mid 30s and want no fucking part of a blow and booze hangover. None. I can't imagine doing blow and drinking all night in my 50s....

A lot of people smoked weed before the 1960's, they just didn't talk about it. There's rumors JFK and Reagan smoked. I'll bet a lot of wiseguys did, especially those close to the music biz, show biz, etc.

Rosario Naimo also did coke, that was a bit of a problem when he began to testify against Cosa Nostra.

The guys who are big drinkers are also more tempted to do Charlie if it's all around you.
