Plenty of higher ranking members have bodyguards and I wonder if any of them have had the guts to step up to the plate in order to protect their soldier, capo or higher ranked boss?

Even if it meant taking a bullet or dying for them.

Any scenarios coming me to mind?

Steve Ferrigno (Al Mineo), Leonard Coppola and Giuseppe Turano (Galante)if you're counting people ambushed with their bosses.

This life of ours, this is a wonderful life. If you can get through life like this, hey, thats great. But it's very, very unpredictable. There are so many ways you can screw it up.-Paul Castellano (he would know)
