Just finished reading "The Sinatra club" by Sal Polisi
and I must say I found it pretty interesting. (The film on the other hand was utter shit)

But what about the book's credibility? That joint venture heist with representatives from all of the 5 families sounds like something out of a bad mafia novel. Other than that, many interesting stories- such as his friendship with Foxie and John Gotti.

I thought the exact same thing after reading the book and seeing the film.

I'm apprehensive to say that the heist never occurred, I just don't think it was really as big a deal as Polisi builds it up to be in the book and film. These were all guys who made their way through the ranks of the mafia via truck hijacking, so to think 5 various low level guys from different families knocked off a truck at some point in the early 70s isn't beyond the reach of what could happen. Some of these guys at that point in the film were still struggling to assert themselves as full fledged members.

Mikeyballs: if you go by the book I think it was fairly close but by that time he says he was discusted with what Lcn had become.

Pretty ballsy the main idea with the club; to hide the big cashflow the drugs was generating from the higher echelons of the mob. They didnt call him "ubatz" for nothing.

We should get him on these boards so that the question of who William bentvena (Billy batts) really was can be sorted out along with a proper photo of the guy smile I think its safe to say Polisi did know him (queens)

I enjoyed the book. Very entertaining story. He comes across as pretty believable, especially when he admits he was a shitty father and a sex addict. But then again he also mentions playing dice with Elvis. It's one of those ones where you have to decide yourself what is true and what might be exaggeration.

Thats right now its jogging my memory, thanks goldhawk.... Your idea about him spilling the beans about billy batts is a good idea thats baffled me for years as well as most on these boards... I mean the guy cant be too busy to sign on a mob fan boy site and answer a few questions right? Lol

As I have mentioned before on this blog, it was an entertaining book- I read it twice. You can be sure there was a certain amount of exaggeration in there, but you just h ave to judge for yourself what is real and what isn't.
