To my Outfit experts out there, and to guys on the boards, help me understand what this article actually means....

http://chicago.suntimes.com/columnists/e...mccarthys-firm/

This is an example of what I meant when I said, if you live in Chicago, it really doesn't look like the mob went anywhere but corporate. I couldn't help but notice that they mentioned the Airport thing, but NOT Daddano. Also when they say half the company is owned by a "local investment group" lol. Like what the fuck does that mean? And what kind of reporter wouldn't mention the name? Are they afraid of libel? Here you have a huge janitorial company, and a huge security firm, with " murky" links to OC, but notice it's very vague, very nebulous. They said the Alderman balked at cancelling the ohare contract, WHY WOULD THEY? What do they have to gain? (Wink, wink)

This stuff reminds me of the movie Casino, how NO WHERE IN THE MOVIE EVER do they mention Chicago, the closest they say is Kansas City or " somewhere back home".

Any thoughts?

Also, I couldn't help but think, if this janitorial company is Union, same with the security firm.

They would probably fall under SEIU, and that union ( Local 1)at the moment has an underfunded pension, even though I think it's one of the biggest unions in the country. It's like you can see the OUTLINE of a criminal conspiracy, but you can't really get the whole picture, what do you guys think?

PS. A background article on the janitorial company....

I went to a union meeting awhile ago for SEIU, and they were talking about how the city was allowing these security firms to set up shop in the Loop, and other places without being Union. It seems the mob adjusted strategies a little. Instead of using the unions for leverage to coerce the businesses, they seem to be in league with politicians and corporations to FUCK the union to advantage of the businesses. Businesses that they of course have a stake in, where as before they had their stake in the unions. So they are still positioned in between the State and the businesses that want to do business with the state. Ironically even though they aren't a traditional family, these methods are VERY COSA NOSTRA , very Sicily.

I believe the key difference in Chicago and NewYork is that it's the political climate of corruption that allows the mob to keep going here. Where as in NY it's the sheer density of population and concentration of wealth. Like corruption or not, you can make money in NY, but in Chicago I think you have to be plugged into the " system" so to speak. Kinda like if you want to sell drugs in NY, you need no real affiliation, like you COULD be an independent. In Chicago , YOU HAVE TO JOIN A GANG to do anything in the streets.

i don't have a whole lotta time, but I've been looking into this, trying to make more connections...

The most powerful labor union executive in Chicago is John Coli Jr who's dad was a member of the Chicago mob and Glimco Jr who's dad was a capo in the Chicago Mob.
Through them the Chicago Outfit runs the teamster Joint councils like they always have since the 1920s
EVERY LEADER OF THE TEAMSTER JOINT COUNCIL 25 HAS BEEN CONNECTED TO THE CHICAGO MOB SINCE IT WAS FOUNDED

Another funny story with the unions in Chicago;
I Worked in a building Uptown about ten years ago, the manager was an Italian guy, Chiodo I think was his last name. Got caught doing a kickback scheme with the Garage manager (Standard Parking, Teamsters union, see this shit?) and all they did was transfer the guy, like, down the street, lol.

Same manager, and this is true shit I don't give a fuck what anyone thinks.
There was a janitor, young Italian guy. Tatted up full sleeves, rims on his ride, blasting, whatever the fuck was hot back then, lazy goon type dude. Didn't do a fuckin thing, I mean like NEVER DID ANY WORK AT ALL. This guys name was Accardo, I asked him straight up if he was a relation and he said yeah, he was a third generation, I think a great grandson? Long story short, all the other workers were complaining, the manager calls a meeting,( And now that I think of it, the young guy was the only one NOT there lol) and basically tells the workers to shut the fuck up and mind their business, don't worry about what anyone else does.

Now, this was actually my FIRST impression that the mob in Chicago, MIGHT not be all that dead...

Paul Spano and Turk Torello's kids are running the production workers union.
http://www.leagle.com/decision/200813805...S%20JOINT%20BD.

Labors 1001 has Outfit associates high up also. Sec. Treasurer Victor Roa, is a associate of the Cataudella brothers and a bookmaking partner Donald "Captain D" DiFazio, and Business Manager Robert Chianelli was a bookmaking partner of Bobby Garripo.

Also Pudgy Matassa is Sec. Treasurer of the Amalgamated Workers Union Local 711

Great links. It is incredible this stuff still goes on here and doesn't get media attention. The Spano indictment is really interesting and its insane that Pudgy still runs a union.

Yeah I think the Spano and Torello thing was a civil rico complaint. They still run that union. A few of the other guys on that board where from New York and were indicted last year. I believe their name was Miranti. Yeah you never hear anything about Matassa being in a union local. But I think it is a pretty small union.

Yeah crazy, considering his mom went into court and claimed she never got all her money( I think 400,000) back from Mike Spano and John LaGiglio. Who both claimed she got paid back all plus some.

Funk, I'm gonna go ahead and post that link that you found about Matassa and Bertino here, hope you don't mind.

This is a new article
