Carneglia brothers are tough as fuck.

Sorry it's my bad. In 1992, sick with lung and testicular cancer, Ruggiero was released from prison after serving 11 years. On November 24, 1994, Benjamin Ruggiero died of lung cancer at the age of 68.For sure he's turning in the grave to see his granddaughter at mob wifes.

Frank "Frankie Loc" LoCascio (born 1933) could flip with gravano, but take his oath of omertà.

A then-26 year old Phil Narducci jr was described by U.S. Prosecutors as a “coldblooded mafia killer” in a 1989 sentencing memo. He was found guilty of being a shooter in the 1986 gangland slaying of South Philly racketeer Frank (Frankie Flowers) D’Alfonso at trial, but had the conviction overturned on appeal – the same appeal that freed current syndicate consigliere and one-time acting boss, Joseph (Uncle Joe) Ligambi in 1997. Narducci would be forced to serve another 15 years on the racketeering collar.

Released from prison in 2012, he is alleged to have at least at one point in recent years be headquartering his operations out of his nephew’s nightclub, Encore, in the area’s Old City neighborhood.

Gotti made him say that egotistical line.

Yes many like him and Carlos Marcello were released early due to health problems. Most die within a year.

Why wouldn't he want to be released TommyDesimone? I recall that the reason that he was never straightened out was because he was briefly a NY cop. He certainly was ruthless and a money maker dealing dope.

Michael Pappadio is a pretty unheard of stand up guy

Stood up to the greedy and unintelligent Amuso / Casso leadership for breaking the rules ( that is Amusso and Casso broke a CN 101 type rule )

giving control of the garment industry ( which his family had since the 50/60s , 30+ years or so ) and handing it over to a non member . Typical of Amuso and Casso , the decision ended up being a disaster and in a few years the business dried up . Probably would of happened anyway but typical them ruined a very lucrative business for their own personal greed as the garment center was a monster $ earner , literally every CN bread and butter business was done their from Union , extortion , gambling and big sharking , trucking , insurance scams

He knew he was dead but at least stood up to them for breaking the rules

Agree with both of you -- I was going to bring up some of the same names. There were a lot of guys from Philly during that era who got some pretty heavy sentences and ended up being stand up guys who did their time and kept quiet.

Faffy Iannarella (45 year sentence), Phil Narducci (40 years), Joey Punge (40 years), Joseph Grande (40 years), Frank Narducci (35 years), and Tony Punge (30 years).

Salvatore "Chuckie" Merlino also received a 45 year sentence and passed away in 2012 while serving it. None of them served their full sentences (or were going to), but in the end they all still did a significant stretch of time before being paroled.

Joe Ligambi was also down for life after being convicted for the Frankie Flowers murder in 1989 -- as were both Narducci's, Faffy, and Chuckie Merlino. They stayed quiet and were going to die in a cage had they not won after an appeal in 1997. Scarfo was virtually going to die in prison anyway due to his racketeering conviction, so I didn't include him with the other defendants in the Frankie Flowers case. But, some of those guys had tremendous luck on their side to be out and walking around now (or next year, in Faffy's case) after receiving significant sentences from the Scarfo racketeering case and then being sentenced to life for the murder conviction, only to have it thrown out 8 years later and win the case at the re-trial.

You even have to give credit to Georgie Boy. He did his time like a man and kept his mouth shut, only to be indicted again in 2011 (where one of the government witnesses would be his man on the street) when he was only 2 years away from being released from his original sentence. He could have easily thrown in the towel at that point and decided to flip instead of facing another trial, but he stood tall.
