This has probably been posted before but I am taking the wife to Atlantic City Saturday night and looking for a good place to grab dinner. I get to AC often but if its with my wife we always end up eating at Morton's or Cuba Libre or other places in the casinos. If I'm with buddies we end up at the Irish Pub. What I'm looking for is a nice restaurant in AC proper, maybe a place with a little history. Any suggestions?

Dock's Oyster House and when you leave in the morning stop by the White House Sub shop! Enjoy!

A place owned by the same people as Dock's is the Knife and Fork on Atlantic. It has the feel of a 1920's place and was actually in Boardwalk Empire. If you want really good food that is inexpensive, try Tony's Baltimore Grill, also on Atlantic 9right behind the Tropicana). Great Italian food - sausage and spaghetti is really good. Knife and Fork is south of the casinos.

It looks like a dive, and is far from fancy inside. To be honest, I haven't been there for 3 -4 years, but the food has always been good. The prices are unbeatable.

Don Marco is right on. I live 10 miles from AC. Knife and Fork is A-1. Its over 100 years old. The decor, food, wait staff, et al are top shelf. Dock's...eh...went there once. No where near the atmosphere and quality of K & F. If you are a little adventurous go down to Margate - Tomatoes. Great food, a lively place. Also Steve and Cookies.

Tony's Baltimore Grill. Decor of an old pizza joint. Great pizza and your basic spaghetti joint. One of those AC experiences. You might even be able to get a bottle of Schmidts.

If you want a fun Italian place in AC try Carmine's. It's sort of a chain (with NYC Carmine's) and it's a family style Italian joint. The food is decent and the portions are HUMONGOUS.

It's by the Tropicana.

Tonys Baltimore Grill

"ZAGATS"

Our Summary Review
An "Atlantic City institution", this circa-1927 pizzeria "landmark" is a "must" for a "late-night pizza", dishing out pies as well as "damn good" meatballs and more until 3 AM, and "inexpensive drinks" from the bar 24/7; prices are "family-friendly" while the service is "abrupt, but efficient", and even though some think it needs a "face-lift", it remains a popular spot "for locals and in-the-know tourists."

Knife and Fork

We moved south 7 years ago. My wife says at the K&F she feels like she is eating in a NY City restaurant.

Really? My family is Italian and we love the Carmine's in NYC, both of them. The food's very good. It's not exactly Olive Garden.

Whoa, Carmines (Atlantic City) catered my grandkids (twins) baptism. And we're lining them up for my MILs 90th birthday in April.

All the casinos have a couple/few top shelf restaurants associated with the top chefs...i.e, .Bobby Flay
