Essex Boys.
Rise Of The Foot Soldier
The Krays
The Business
Gangster No1
The Take(Martina Coles Sky 1 series, stars Tom Hardy)
Sexy Beast
Layer Cake
Top Boy(Channel 4 tv series on Hackney drug dealers)

EDIT: Whoops noticed you mentioned good films, some of these are questionable but worth a watch i guess. The Take is one of my favorites.

The TOP BOY TV series is absolutely brilliant. A bit like a British THE WIRE.

Not quite sure they are in the gangster genre but Snatch and Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels are very good British crime films..

I really enjoyed the Top Boy series also, thought the acting was pretty good.

Although i read there is going to be no series 3, which is a big disappointment considering it was planned out to be 3 series.

"The Krays" and "The Long Good Friday" were very good.
