I'm 72 and was a heavy smoker until about age 40. If I can quit,, anyone can, it's just a matter of being stubborn.

bigboy, you have added years to your age by quitting, congrats.

Binnie, I quit smoking 20 years ago, drinking hard liquor 5 years ago (still drink wine) but I can't losse this extra 20 lbs my Doctor wants me to loose. Go figure.

yup, I know all about that, but there is a pill out that will make you lose weight, my doctor won't prescribe it for me because he said it hasn't been out long enough,

im about 30 lbs over my normal weight right now, amd its horrible, I have closets full of nice clothes I can't fit into. im going to bug my doctor to prescribe that pill for me.

ask your doc about a new weight-loss pill.

Yup a couple of my friends have used it. They like it. I tried it to see what it was like but I was too liquored up at the time so I can't remember if I liked it or not

I used to smoke years ago. You know what stopped me from smoking? Watching ppl I loved die of lung cancer, no joke.

The e-cigarette is another one ppl use but I hear if you want to QUIT, Chantix is what can help to stop you from smoking.

Next month it'll be 10 years for me? I can't believe it. I never have the urge to pick up a cigarette tho I admit, even NOW if I'm walking outside and smell cigarette smoke, something is appealing. Is that crazy or what? BUT I have no desire to ever smoke again. I feel healthier. It was one of the best decisions I've made in my life.

Like so many of you I tried a cigarette when I was a youth. For the life of me I cannot understand why anyone would continue to inhale that crap. It didn't matter to me that smoking was supposed to be cool. It was hot and harsh. Madonne!

Anybody who has ever worked in the city(Manhattan) knows just how cold it gets outside in the winter....it's a wind tunnel. When I used to see people huddled in front of office buildings to smoke in 5 degree weather, that's when I actually believed that it's an addiction.

My best friend growing up, Rich, had all types of health problems before he passed....on top of smoking.
