Obviously Gotti jr has gotten a lot of attention with his trials the last few years. Amazingly most people have said the gov't should leave him alone since he doesn't appear to be a bad as his old man. But Junior is by no means innocent. I mean he is a murderer many times over and has gotten away with it. In 1983 he stabbed some guy in a bar and the witness who saw that was later whacked. he killed a drug dealer and then drove by to look at his body. he was also involved in the Louie DiBono hit. So to me it seems like kind of an injustice taht he is out there trying to make a movie when he did a lot of terrible things. I'd like to hear people's comments on this

On camera he appears to be a pretty laid back guy who you would drink a beer with, despite him being a murderer, etc.

But although he may have killed in the past, it really looks like he left the mob life. If the government can't nail him for murders he's done in the past, the have no reason to continue going after him.

I've always thought it had to do with the governments obsession with him

After striking out again and again with Junior, the feds would basically need to have a 100% air tight case to indict him again. Which is probably unlikely as long as he stays out of things.

I think they will probably try 1 more time in a few years.JR making this movie and will probably have his fathers character as a hero will piss the feds off so he really should of just stayed low key and out of the spotlight. This now is going to give them even more ammunition to go after him.

They will need somebody important to flip. Somebody with some actual clout, not an Alite type.

He's got nothing to do with that life anymore. A couple of Gambinos were recorded talking about it. If my memory serves me correctly, a couple of them went to the Colombos to get permission to have him whacked out. That was all recorded of course. Every time you see a Colombo, you're gonna get recorded. Not only that, but the sound quality is so good that several major recoding artists have now made multi-album deals with them. In fact, Lady Gaga's upcoming album is being recorded almost entirely by the Colombos. Andy Mush is executive producer.

Miller makes a good point how Gotti ended up playing the same nepotism game he hated Castellano for. He really did Junior a disfavor by putting him in that position, which he wasn't ready for, and just put a big bulls eye on his back. I read it got to the point where the Genovese family wouldn't even meet with Junior. And eventually, of course, his uncles demoted him.

None of these guys were taking orders from Junior. Nick Corozzo and Danny Marino had way more clout than that guy. Even Joe Watts didn't listen to him. That's how dysfunctional The Gambinos got when Gotti Sr. put his kid in there.

I'm surprised how "bad" people feel for junior. In my mind it doesn't matter if he left the life. I mean it's good that he trying to live a straight life but that doesn't change the fact that he is still a murderer many times over

Well, that part actually may have happened. I decided to Google it and for some reason I thought they had recorded it, but I don't see that mentioned. Judging by these articles, the Gambinos felt they needed to get permission from the other families to go after a target of this magnitude. In 2006, they went to see Sonny Franzese, who at the time was pretty much the highest ranking Colombo on the street.

Now that I think about it, Gotti Jr. could have easily told his dad, "No"

I agree. If junior is, in fact, a murderer, he should pay for it. I don't care if he has left the mob; you murder someone, you pay for it. Whether the murder happened yesterday or thirty years ago! I hope the government finally gets this guy. His family acts like law enforcement should just give him a pass because he left his life of crime and did several years time. But junior only served time for some of his sins -- not all of them!

It would be very difficult because of the double jeopardy law and I seriously doubt they will. However, because of the dual sovereignty doctrine, the feds could technically try little miss thing without violating the double jeopardy laws. That is because the state of Florida and the federal government are seen as two separate entities. Each considers murder to be a punishable crime and each can prosecute one time for murder. Anything could happen. If Casey admits to this or new evidence pops up, new charges could be brought. There is also the question of prosecuting her for violating the civil rights of a child. That is certainly a possibility and she could get life if convicted of that charge. A federal charge I might add.

Gee, for a guy who lives in Iceland, you sure seem to know a whole lot about federal laws....not to mention individual state laws!

Do they teach this in the 5th grade over in Iceland?

Don Cardi cool

Five - ten years from now, they're gonna wish there was American Cosa Nostra. Five - ten years from now, they're gonna miss John Gotti.

Junior Gotti hasn't exactly gotten away with his life of crime, he has spend some consierable time in prison. I don't agree with getting him regardless of the law, if they couldn't prove he murdered people in court, then so be it, that is the way it should be.

I'll be going on my third year in law school this fall. Law is something I've always had a big interest in. Not just Icelandic law, but European and American law as well.

Thanks for ruining all my work in ignoring this story.

Anyway, I don't think generic murder is a federal offense.

Just seeing that face in Vinny's avatar makes me want to punch something. But first, I'd like to strangle everyone on that stinking jury.

That's mighty Christian of you. I don't understand all this hate for one person. Sadly, for a while I allowed myself to be caught up in it as well. No more though. There's seven billion humans with a heartbeat on this planet and people can barely hold it together because of one Casey Anthony. Think about that. If it was Hitler, I'd understand, but Casey Anthony was accused of killing a kid. A very small kid.
