This has puzzled me for some time. In GFIII, when Don Tommasino stops his car to pick up the priests walking along the road he says something like "you're Mosca from Montelerpe. You were an assasin then, and still are now..." Then Don Tommasino get blasted.

I noticed that in GFII, on IMDB, the character of Mosca (assassin in Sicily) is listed - but for the life of me I can't place him in the film. Where do we see his character.

By the way - they are played by two different actors.

Only thing that I can think of is that Mosca in GFII could have been one of the Assasains who Young Vito did NOT get revenge on.

By the way, Great observation!

I thought about that too - one of the assasins that young vito didn't get - but if he was seeking revenge on his father's assasins, and Vito's father supposedly died in 1901 - and if GFIII happened in the 1979-80 timeframe, then those assasins would be pushing 100 years of age by that time.

I'm thinking Mosca has to be present during Michael's young Sicily days - but I can't figure out who, or where.

Yes, If the first Mosca in GFII was one of the original assasains, then he would be around that age. But he couldn't have been from Michael's Sicily days either, because we see Michael in Sicily in GFI and Mosca is casted in GFII! Mosca was around Don Tomassino's age in GFIII, correct? And Don Tomassino and Vito were around the same age as we see Don Tomassino get shot and crippled when he and young Vito are getting revenge on Don Ciccio, right? So therefore Mosca must have worked for Don Ciccio at a young age, around the time and age of Vito and Tomassino's hit on Ciccio.

If I'm not mistaken, the Mosca in GFII is killed by Vito in a deleted scene (I think he's the guy Vito knifes in the bedroom, and Strollo was the guy he beat with the paddle on the boat), and the Mosca in GFIII is a completely different person (for reasons already mentioned). My guess is they reused the name since the scene in GFII wasn't shown in the theatrical release.

Mosca was the name of the main character in The Dark Anera, do you think Mario Puzo picked that name for a reason?

I have a question about Mosca, a feared and skilled assassin. Why was he such a poor marksman. He only grazed Micheal with the first shot, and the second shot he totally missed, hitting Mary.

Directoral license: If he'd killed Michael, we wouldn't have had all the emotion that followed when he instead killed Mary--Michael's anguished cry, Connie pulling up her mantilla, Michael's lonely death in Sicily...
