The Godfather IV: In Development. - 01/05/07 05:52 AM

http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g122/CasinoRoyale_2006/TheGodfatherFirstteaser.jpg

First of all- HI! I'm new here and I'm also a huge fan of THE GODFATHER movies. I've been browsing around here for a couple of months and decided to join.

Now on to this. After reading the first draft of Francis Ford Coppola and Mario's Puzo's GODFATHER PART III script, I came up with a crazy idea to remake the movie (it's a fan film), and base it on the script with some subtle changes.

The movie is currently in development and will enter pre-production status when the script is finalized (summer).

So what do you think?

Welcome.

So, you're remaking it all by your lonesome?

Re: The Godfather III Remake:::Pre-Production (200 - 01/05/07 05:38 PM

Okay. So you're filming it with a Brownie camera in the back yard where your dad is helping you build a mock-up of St. Paul's cathedral and your sister will play Connie. Got for it!

Can you let us in on the plot changes?

Re: The Godfather III Remake:::Pre-Production (2009) - 01/05/07 06:29 PM

The script will be the 1st draft written by Mario and Francis. There will be some subtle changes, but the script (atleast 90%) of it will stay the same.

The actors ages will be from 20 to 30 which is another reason why I'm waiting a long time to film this. I'm going to be co-producing the movie, while also directing and working on the script changes.

I dont think we need the rights to make a FAN FILM. And I have also directed a James Bond Fan Film, based on Ian Fleming's MOONRAKER.

And also-just please give me a chance. I guranttee you this won't be 13 year olds running around there back yard with their sister filming them. I'm trying to make this a proffesinal looking as I can.

And when I'm done the script, would someone like to review the changes?

Re: The Godfather III Remake:::Pre-Production (200 - 01/05/07 11:16 PM

I think I should play the part of Michael. I expect to have a constant supply of grilled cheese and chocolate milk in my dressing room. As well as a bottle of liquor. Any liquor.

And if you plan on doing anymore Bond movies, you should consider me as a Bond girl. I'm a natural, or so I hear - the kids always called me Pussy Galore in high school.

I heartily second that.

Amateur films have been around practically since film itself. There are plenty of Godfather-inspired films to be found on the Internet. Tributes, spoofs, you name it. Lots of links have been posted right here on these Boards.

I made (or was involved with) lots of these in my younger days. I made my first one at age ten. I produced and directed my last 8 millimeter magnum opus (a spoof of Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?) in 1975. Eleven years later, a NYC science-fiction club I was a part of made an amateur film/video to show to children in hospitals and long-term care facilities. I directed that one - and that's also where I met my late wife.

I am quite serious when I say that there are many talented film makers out there who were bitten by the creative bug as younger amateurs.

As Rocky Balboa said: Go for it.

Here is the first change that I'll make with the script:

The killing of Cicci and the Russo brothers will be much different, it will be much more voilent and jaw dropping.

More Soon.

And if anyone is interested in making a photoshop teaser poster, just tell me!

Okay- It seem's not many people want to see this movie being made.

I'll make a vote- just post YES (if you want to see it), and NO (if you dont).

There isn't any other way, I don't want to waste my time doing something no one wants to see.

DON MALTA : She came all the way from "under there" to come to the gangsterbb dinner; I told you she was going to come.

SC : It's been two years; she's probably in trouble again.

DON MALTA : She's a good goddaughter. SC, I want you to find Cardi. Tell him to come to the chatroom.

BOGEY : I don't know what to do. My voice is -- is weak. It's weak. Anyway, uh, if I had this part in the picture, ya'know, it puts me right back up on top again. But this, uh -- this man out there, he won't give it to me; the head of the studio.

DON MALTA : What's his name?

BOGEY : The Mob -- The Mob. He -- He won't give it to me -- and ah, he says there's no chance. No chance.

CUT TO: SC using the search option looking for Cardi on the gangsterbb.

SC : (through a PM) : Cardi? Cardi?

[Cardi and SB are going at it in the general discussion forum. Having a political debate. SC goes in there, then makes a post]

SC : Cardi? Cardi you in here?

CARDI (stopping the debate) : What?

SC : Old man Malta wants to see you.

CARDI : Yeah, one minute.

[SC smiles, and logs out, as Cardi and SB continue their debate]

BOGEY (as SC quietly enters the Don's chatroom) : A month ago he bought the movie rights to this script. A rough draft -- and the main character, it's a character just like me. I uh -- I wouldn't even have to act -- just be myself. Oh, Godfather, I
don't know what to do. I don't know what to do.

DON MALTA : You can act like a woman!

(then, after spanking Bogey)

What's the matter with you? Is this how you turned out? A Hollywood finocchio that ah cries like a bitch?

(then imitating Bogey, as SC giggles)

What can I do?! What can I do?!

(then)

What is that nonsense? Ridiculous.

[Cardi enters the room]

DON MALTA (to Bogey, after seeing Cardi enter the chatr room):

You spend time with your gangsterbb family?

BOGEY : Sure I do.

(to Bogey, but toward and about Cardi)

Good. 'Cause a BB memeber who doesn't spend time with his or her gangsterbb family can never be a real bb member.

(then, to Bogey)

Come're.

(then)

You look terrible. I want you to eat. I want you to rest a while. And in a month from now, this -- Ottawa bigshot's gonna give you what you want.

BOGEY : It's too late, they start shooting in a week

DON MALTA : I'm gonna make him an offer he can't refuse.

CUT TO: SC arrives in Ottawa by plane, takes a cab, then walks by foot through THE MOB's International Pictures. Music: "Manhattan Serenade" plays -day

THE MOB (who's just walked toward SC): All right, start talking.

SC : Uh, I was sent by a friend of Bogey's-- Her friend is my client, who'd give his undying friendship to Mr. Mob, if Mr. Mob would grant us a small -- favor.

THE MOB : Mob is listening.

SC : Give Bogey the part in that new GFIII film you're starting next week.

THE MOB (laughs, then) :And ah, what favor would ah your friend ah grant Mr. Mob?

SC: You're gonna have some log in problems on the gangsterbb; my client could make then disappear. Also, one of your top stars has just moved from ah marijuana to heroin...

THE MOB : Are you trying to muscle me?

SC: Absolutely not.

THE MOB : Now listen to me, you smooth-talking son-of-a-bitch! Let me lay it on the line for you and your boss, whoever he is. Bogey will never get that movie! I don't care how many -
- daigo guinea WOP greaseball gumbahs gangsterbb members come out of the internet!

SC: I'm German-Irish...

THE MOB : Well let me tell you something my Kraut Mick friend, I'm gonna make so much computer trouble for you, you won't know what hit your laptop!

SC: Mr. Mob, I'm a moderator, I have not threatened you.

THE MOB : I know almost every big moderator on the internet, who the hell are you?

SC: I have a special practice; I handle one client -- Now you have my e-mail address; I'll wait for your e-mail -- By the way, I admire your pictures very much.

[SC shakes The Mobs' hand, then leaves]

CUT TO: Later, SC and The Mob walking around Mob' apartment. "Manhattan Serenade" plays

THE MOB : Why didn't you say you worked for Malta, SC? I thought you were just some cheap two-bit hustler Bogey was running in trying to bluff me.

SC : I don't like to use his name unless it's really necessary.
Don Malta is Bogey's godfather. To the gangsterbb people, that's a very religious, sacred, close relationship.

THE MOB : I respect that; just tell him he should ask me anything else. But this is one favor I can't give him.

SC : He doesn't ask a second favor once he's been refused the first, understood?

THE MOB : You don't understand. Bogey never gets that movie. That part is perfect for her; it'll make her a big star. And I'm gonna run her out of the business, and let me tell you why.

(then, after he stands)

Bogey ruined one of Mob International's most valuable proteges. For five years we had him under training. Singing lessons; acting lessons, dancing lessons. I spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on him. I was gonna make him a big star! And let me be even more frank, just to show you that I'm not a hard-hearted man, and it's not all dollars and cents. He was beautiful; he was young, he was innocent. He was the greatest piece of ass my female assistant ever had, and she had'em all over the world! And then Bogey comes along with her olive- oil voice, and gothic charm. And he runs off. He threw it all away just to make me look ridiculous! And a man in my position can't afford to be made to look ridiculous! Now you get the hell outta here! And if that gumbah tries any rough stuff, you tell him I ain't no internet administrator! Yeah, I heard that story....

SC : Thank you for the dinner and a very pleasant evening. If your car could take me to the airport; Don Malta is a man who insists on hearing bad news immediately.

[SC nods, then exits]

CUT TO: pan of exterior of The Mob's apartment, music is a variation of the Title Theme, then we see the interior of The Mobs' bedroom. Mob awakens in a pool of electronic parts, and finds his computers'severed screen in his bed; and SCREAMS ah - ah - ah - ah - ah! -dawn

What's the difference between an amateur film and a professional film?

Would you consider yourself a prostitute to the audience?

Isn't an author simply the first audience of his own work?

What are you getting personally out of remaking The Godfather III?

What other films have you made with an XL2 camera?

I've only used XM2's extensively; have you used an XM2, and how do the two compare?

Which editing software will you be using?

What are you getting personally out of remaking The Godfather III?

Well I found that the Godfather III 1st draft script was much different and better than the actual movie, so I thought I'd just do it, as a remake and add some bit's and pieces to make it even better.

That's a pretty obvious question...

Actually, it is an obvious question. But the answer is not. Or at least, you haven't answered it. What separates the two?

I think making a film is, or should be, one of the most personal things that you can do. It's like writing a poem but making yourself completely naked not only to yourself but to others, because the camera strips far more intensely than a pen does.

I'm getting personal because I think there should be a personal reason or motivation to remake a film. Peter Jackson's remake of King Kong was very personal, for instance, and because of that very good. What kind of personal questions are raising their heads inside of your head?

And, why do I get a strange sensation that you're a complete and utter phony?

Instead of blindly asking others for a chance, perhaps you should be asking yourself why nobody has faith in you.

Big Update:

Since no many people don't want to watch a "remake" of GF:III, I've decided to make this Fan Film my version of GF:IV, I already have more than half a script written.

What do you think?

Read my post again. All I'm doing is asking questions. Questions are important. And I'm only asking them because you've not asked them yourself. Or show no signs of having done so.

What's your budget for the film?
Who will be producing the film?
Have you applied anywhere for funding?

What reason might people find to bash you?

I can't answer any of those, I'm afraid.

And I'll say what I said last time, too: I'd love to see your film.

SCRIPT UPDATE:
Writing on the script will officially begin this week, and I'll be posting it on another thread (check the GODFATHER IV thread).
I'll post most of the script execpt the ending which is TOP SECRET as of now.

Anyone would like to review my first act when I'm done?

Re: The Godfather IV: In Development. - 01/10/07 03:33 AM

I'll send you ACT I sometime this weekend. If anyone else want's to review ACT I, just tell me.

SCRIPT UPDATE:

I finished the treatment for the first about hour and a half. The script is going to be long, about 3 hours and a half of screentime. Also, ACT I is set in 1925, and ACT II takes place in 1983, a couple of years after Mary Corelone's death.

Any question or concerns?

Mr. Mob -

If you are going to get into the screenwriting / scriptwriting / movie business, then you really need to grow some thicker skin. Critisizm is something that goes hand and hand with this business and is something that one should expect to have to deal with in the business. Instead of getting offended by what the critics say, you should instead learn to use it to inspire you.

No, no, you're right. But I decided to say it was a cork and an ashtray, and hope to god it wasn't the former. I don't think it's responsible of us to be promoting smoking to children.

Re: The Godfather IV: In Development. - 01/21/07 01:21 AM

I guess it's about time for an update.

Due to EXAMS and other projects, the 1st ACT was delayed a couple of weeks, but I might be able to type it up tonight and have it ready for you either tomorrow or late tonight.

I also won't have time to let anyone "revise" it, I will do that in ACT II.

Any questions or Concerns?

Re: The Godfather IV: In Development. - 01/21/07 01:36 AM

I also wan't to add one more thing, THE RATING.

Although there is NO POINT to rate a "fan film" or screenplay, my script will be rating R.

As for the reasons, you'll find out..

Re: The Godfather IV: In Development. - 01/21/07 02:23 AM

Here is more! This is in order, so this is what takes place after the opening I posted before.

Fade in:

EXT. Las Vegas, Day.

We fade in to the beautiful city of Las Vegas; we also see a close up view of the BELLAGIO HOTEL.

INT. BELLAGIO HOTEL, LAS VEGAS, DAY.

There is a huge party in the presidential suite of the BELLAGIO HOTEL, women are dancing, while the men sing, and the kids run around the room playing. Connie is having a drink and watches her daughter dance in the middle of the room, with the other girls.

Dissolve to:

INT. Vincent Corleone’s Office, day.

Voice:
What do you think, Don Corleone?

We now show the face of Nick Neri.

Vincent Corleone is sitting on the chair behind the desk.

Vincent:
The Corleone’s will never be involved in this drug business; I can not accept your offer.

Nick Neri:
Al Neri, sent me here personally, he guarantees you everything here will be safe. We are talking about millions of dollars here.

Vincent:
Tell him we aren’t interested, I’ll do legit business with him, but this no. When we gave him his own family, we didn’t give it to him to get himself involved in drug business.

Nick Neri:
Everyone is involved in it now-

Vincent:
We aren’t interested; tell him to forget about it.

Nick Neri gets up.

Nick Neri:
Don Neri is a man who likes to hear about bad news immediately, so I will leave you now.

Vincent gets up and walks over to Nick Neri.

Vincent:
It’s been nice talking to you, bye.

Vincent and Nick Neri shake hands. Nick Neri exits the room.

Here is even more, we now go back to the 1920's.

CUT TO:

INT- Little Italy- 1928- Night.

Vito and Carmella Corleone are celebrating 20 years of marriage. They have invited many friends. There children Santino, Fredrico, Miguelo, and Constanzia, are running and playing around with the neighbors kids.

A big, but short man walks over to Vito. The man is Clemenza.

Clemenza:
Today’s your special day, eh? I wish I was married for twenty years.

Vito:
Thank you for coming.

Clemenza:
I wouldn’t miss it for the world; anyways I need to talk to you.

Vito:
Sure, sure.

Vito gets up slowly, he takes a sip from his drink, and he follows Clemenza to a room. They enter and close the door.

Clemenza:
I got you a new man; he is willing to help out.

Vito (annoyed):
Clemenza, Clemenza, Clemenza. Does this look like a time to talk about this? I thought you where going to give me a present or something.

Clemenza smiles, Vito walks over to a desk at the far corner of the room, he sits down.

Vito:
Is he here?

Clemenza:
He is waiting outside.

Vito:
Bring him in.

What happened, it’s not like I made that deal. It’s still legit, just as you wanted.

Michael:
Casino’s and doing business in Las Vegas is not legit, Vincent. But I don’t care anymore, I’m just here for a couple of more days, I’m going back to Sicily.

Vincent (surprised):
Sicily? Why so early?

Michael:
I don’t want to have anything to do with the family, I’ve had enough.

Vincent:
Not even one more time?

Michael:
What do you mean?

Vincent:
Uncle Mike, I want you to be my consigliore.

He shakes his head.

Michael:
I have retired; I don’t need the family to be involved anymore.
