what if michael had a son with apollonia?
they were doing it everynight for 2 years, from night till dawn, its possible that they had a child.
michael may have kept him hidden with the vitelli's so that it will grow up in the normal world outside of (his)danger.
michael never told anyone about his son as to protect it from danger and future plots against his Family and his life.

I don't think so, I think the entire time Michael was in Sicily was only about one year, and Apollonia was killed some time before he returned.

They had a very "whirlwind courtship" and I think it was only intended to take up maybe a couple of months at most.

enzobaker: did you read the novel? michael was there for 2yrs, at least. Also its not as whirlwind as that shown in the film because infact michael courted apollonia for 2months at the most,if i remember correctly.

That truely is a good idea, one of which I had not thought of, but we have to remember the book and the movie are two diffrent things.

I read the book. The movies depart from the book in many instances, and in terms of the movie series, the MOVIE is considered "canon" as opposed to the book.

The book goes into a long subplot about how Lucy Mancini moved off to Las Vegas and hooked up with whatshisname the doctor dude, and clearly in terms of GF III, that portion of the book has been completely contradicted.

The movie plays it very vague in terms of how long Michael was in Sicily but my impression was it was only about a year. And of course the movies, all of them, give no hint whatsoever that Michael had a son by Apollonia.

FFC made it a point in GF II that Michael wanted to have a son, an heir. Michael tells Kay that it's important that they have chidren ... "our children." If he already had a son in Italy he wouldn't be that obsessed by it.

Of course, if they made a GF IV, they could do anything they want, but manufacturing a lost Michael son in Sicily would be extremely hokey storytelling. For me it would be much more believable to have Anthony, consumed with rage after Mary's killing, suddenly deciding to reverse his field and get into the family business. (Or, for that matter, there are the "legitimate" sons of Sonny ... Frank and Santino Jr. You could bring them into the plot as well and at least you wouldn't just be completely making up a new character.)

That way you could have the dramatic angle of Michael's son entering the business without having to go to the Bizarro-World dramatic absurdity of making up a son nobody had ever heard of for 40 years.

In regards to Appollonia and Michael having a child. If you read the section reight before she is killed, it says that she is pregnant with Michaels child. Any child that she was carrying died with her. However the book also specifies that when Sonny was killed and Lucy attempts suicide they ask her many times if pregnancy was the reason for the suicide attempt and she says no. She eventually winds up with the Dr. in Vegas, and yet in the movies we have Sonny's child by Lucy, Vincent. So the movies and the book do differ. Of course, it was the original author doing the differing.

Yeah, but the Lucy Mancini/Jules Segal (as well as most of the Johnny-Nino saga) had nothing to really add to the movie that was worthwhile to the plot.
