"The Corleones"

"The Corleones" - 01/20/03 08:17 PM

Authors are still being saught and material is being reviewed. Published and represented authors and screenwriters only have been given consideration of solicited materials. The property is being referred to internally at Random House as "The Corleones" and NOT "Godfather 4." Although guidelines sent in the middle of October to literary agents leave open to the imagination of the prospective authors the plot of the impending novel, the time period of the 1920's and 1930's is the preferred setting, as well the development of the parallel relationships between adoptive brothers Vito Corleone & Genco Abbandando and Tom Hagan & Santino Corleone. It is possible, however, that each writer has been given a different time frame and characters with which to develop a story.

None of the information above is privy or secret, but it has not been mentioned in any of these boards or on Jeff's site. I have additional information that I can share at a later time when I am confident that it will not get me in trouble/fired/sued.

Also, as far as the talk about Paramount pictures scouting for locations in Australia is concerned, I HIGHLY doubt that. Paramount does not have the rights to develop a Godfather sequel - only the Puzo estate did and those rights were sold to Random House. Granted, Jonathon Karp admitted to meetings with Paramount Pictures in which he agreed to provide "First Look Rights." (A deal that made Random House a boatload of cash, no doubt, and not a single word of the book has been written.) All that means is that when the novel is completed, Random House will show the property to Paramount before anyone else and Paramount has the right to either purchase the film rights or pass, in which case Random House can shop to any other film studio they wish.

Hi Mtoppi,

Firstly welcome to the board!!

Where did you get this info, if I may ask? I do like the prospective storyline, as I always wanted the earlier years covered and not the later years. I think naming it "The Corleones" is also a wise step.

So, if you don't mind, tell us how/where you got this info, as the topic of a GFIV and what it should cover has been discussed many time here, with many different views. Do keep us posted.

Thank you,

TIS

Italian Stallionette: Approximately two months ago, an employee with Lucasfilm was arrested of stealing and leaking information to websites regarding Star Wars II more than 6 months prior to its release.

Please just consider me a fan with an open ear in the right places at the right times.

What I am wondering is this; from all the info we "thought" we knew, GFIV was to center around Vincent and A.G. was certain to return. If this is true, he couldn't return as Vincent. For that matter they couldn't even put him in any other role, because he's known by now as Vincent.

Of course they could do the flashback thing I suppose. We just have to see how it plays out I guess.

Now I grew up with my father being a Yankees fan and My Grandfather and mother being a devoted Mets fan. He worked for the beer company for years and they were the Mets first and biggest sponsors.... Living in New York was never easy with a house divided.....

Partagas,

That could be an interesting story. I mean we were expected to "buy" Vincent coming out of nowhere, why not another son of Michael's. We know it was a boy. Actually, Kay probably could have pulled it off, don't you think?

My idea has always been to bring Michael's "secret" son back to take over the Family. Of course, along with a parrallel story of the Family from the 20's uptil GF I starts.

Michael's "secret" son. "It was an abortion Michael, an abortion....." No it wasn't -- Kay got revenge by lying and having Michael's son in New England.
Wadda ya think?
Partagas, I love your GF4 plot. What an interesting idea that would be.
Wouldnt it be cool if people who 'had a bit of clout' (anyone not familiar with the term of 'having a bit of clout' please just let me know ) visited our boards and took on board a couple of ideas?

I just hope Mtoppi doesn't forget about us and keeps us "posted"!

TIS

Btw, kind of on the same topic; I was watching this new tv show "Without A Trace" starring Anthony LaPaglia. I was thinking.....he looks like he could be a "Corleone",for GFIV don't ya think? Michael's nephew or cousin or surprise son or something.

Re: "The Corleones" - 01/26/03 03:22 PM

Havin a flim based on that time would be great.
The only thing is i bet it wil still not have the quality of the first two, na where would it go in the DVD set, i have been thinkin about that one.
But if you think about it that period was when the corleone fmaily was at its best, like sollozo said.
So it would be great to see.
