GF3 and my thoughts on a 4

GF3 and my thoughts on a 4 - 07/05/02 07:32 PM

K, well to start off I haven't seen the first two but from what I can gather they are a lot more violent. Now, part III obviously wasn't really very violent but it dealt with Michael trying to straighten stuff out a little and reduce the violence. I would love to have known what was in those 20 pgs taken outta the script cuz I think that did a lot of damage. I think that Andy Garcia looks Italian to me and he did a great job with what he was given. I don't think the script was written very well.

I don't think there should be a four unless all the stops were pulled out and it was made as it should be, with the darkness of the first two (I haven't seen lol)

I think that Andy Garcia could be the next Don, he has a totally different character than Michael in III so I think it would be a nice contrast. But if it was to just be another add on I don't think it should be made.

Does anyone else feel the same??

My favorite was GF1 I love the time era and the cunning way Vito Corleone ran the family business.

No matter WHAT you do, see the first two. You will not regret it. The Godfather 1 is to me the greatest movie ever made, and Godfather 2 is brilliant too. Godfather 3 though is not that good. You don't know WHAT you're missing!

I'm with you Luca; I love the era of the young Vito and the beginnings of his "life of crime." I always thought FFC/MP caputured the feeling of the time quite accurately, even tho I was not around back then. One can sense the feeling? Do you know what I mean? My grandparents immigrated from Sicily in the 1900's (one 1905 and the others and my father in 1921) and from little tidbits/stories I remember hearing from them, I imagine that's what it was like back then as far as capturing atomosphere. I have maintained that if a GF 4 is ever made, that they go to that era and elaborate on Vito's entrance into the "business." Plus I love the Italian subtitles and always try to see what words I understand, as I don't know Italian, to speak of.

Annt, what is your favorite part of PART I?

Re: GF3 and my thoughts on a 4 - 07/06/02 02:59 AM

Irish Don,

I tend to like the real dramatic parts; one is just before Michael shoots Sollozo & McCluskey and is standing by the table with a very intense look on his face, knowing he was going to kill these two people and that his life would never be the same again. (Nothing like seeing it on the big screen by the way);

I also loved the whole sequence in Sicily with Appolonia's courtship/marriage, etc., showing that Michael did have a sensitive even romantic side.

Another favorite scene is when Vito was in the hospital and no one is with him and Mike takes full charge of the situation, enlisting Enzio's help in front of the hospital. It was then I think that leadership abilities, if you will, came shining thru gauranteeing the right to be future Don.

If you don't mind me saying TIS, MY favorite part of Part I is when Michael and Vito are talking about the wine, funny papers, etc. It is very powerful and to me moving. Also the true emotion on Michael's face when he says "It's good to see you Kay". They may be small to you but it is truly amazing and...beautiful.

Don Anton

Many times it is the small parts intertwined with the large parts that make for a great movie. I too liked the scene you are referring to. And Vito playing with Anthony in the garden just before his death was also touching! We saw a playful side of Vito that we never saw in Michael. Gosh, there are so many scenes that were wonderful, it's hard to remember them all.

I have read the transcript! so I love what I have read! but I still think that there should be a follow up using vincent cuz he would rule in a totally different way to the others, I think it would be interesting!

Godfatheress you'll get the picture of what TRUE Sicilians are supposed to look like when you watch the first to flicks.
BTW I am a Sicilian and so are my parents and my fam and Garcia doesn't look one bit Sicilian but to each his own.

I know this topic has been discussed before, but I am in agreement with my friend Guinea, AG (as good of an actor he may or may not be) is not right in the role of an Italian mafia figure. Again, my opinion, for what it's worth. Plus maybe a little AG fatigue due to past experiences.

Andy was born in Havana, Cuba in 1956 and came to the U.S when he was 5 he's 100%Cuban and looks so. Also non-believable as an Italian for more info on this refer to thread Garcia on this same section and you'll know waht i'm trying to say.

You seen the two ficks yet The GFess?

I think you should just buy them ahead of time cause you'll want to after you watch them(1 and 2)and i've read the book, it's very good and detailed and explains the story a litte bit better then the movie.

P.S sry for butting in and sounding harsh wasn't of my intention.

Re: GF3 and my thoughts on a 4 - 07/09/02 04:53 PM

I would show you one but my scanner isn't working right now, but when i get it up and kicking i'll Private Message you and give you a link. I described myself earlier as a cross of Pacino in The Godfather Part II and the last quarter of part one when he became the true Micheal Corleone and DeNiro as Young Vito Corleone, my face resembles Pacino more but my face structure is more like DeNiro's, but i'm a little bit tanner then them both but lighter then Garcia by little but the discrepensy in the skintone increases as the temperature goes down i get lighter in the winter.

Sry
