For those of you who enjoy reading something unique, I think the life and times of mafioso Salvatore (Sam) Scro fits the bill nicely.

great work on SAM SCRO. this is exactly the type of bio i enjoy reading the most. all of the old "usual suspect" bio's have been done ad nauseam and are just replays. too many unique figures out there who really shaped the LCN.

Thanks Faffy. Glad you enjoyed it. And for the same reasons you already enumerated, I enjoy researching these types of guys better myself. I enjoy the challenge, and its refreshing to uncover something new, as opposed to just regurgitating the same old stuff that everyone has already read over and over a million times already.

Faffy, since you enjoy reading about these kinds of guys, another bio I wrote that comes to mind you'll like is that of Pittston's Luigi (Lou) Pagnotti, who was an extremely wealthy and influential mafioso affiliated with the Bufalino Family. Despite an extensive early criminal background which was the basis for his later power, Pagnotti became one of the most respected and sort after "legitimate" businessmen across northeastern Pennsylvania.

I was intrigued with his life story. I think you will be too.

I completely agree with you, Faffy. But, unfortunately, I don't think there are many guys active on the streets today who have the same kind of business acumen and smarts as the old timers we speak of. IMO, these types of guys were visionaries.

This guy almost made it through his whole life without anyone ever knowing who he was,who he was some kind of relationship with,or who he knew.
It wasn't even his fault or his own mouth that exposed him.It was because of the mistakes of others
And he went to his grave living a quiet life and never admitted anything except being an honest businessman
Does anybody know the circumstances of how it was that he came to know all these people and if he was a member,how or why that happened?
Who was his own father,grandfather etc?
How many others of his era were able to stay secretive through their whole life,that nobody knew about?
Like you suggest ,these days,these guys seem to want everyone to know who they are .Like they are celebrities.

I think thats exactly right, Havana. Born back in 1892, Scro was an absolute original. And as such, was among a suspected whole litany of mafiosi who were able to successfully fly "under the radar" their entire careers.

Faffy, Havana, I know you guys enjoy the lesser known fellas. I'm working on another such mafioso now that I'm hoping to have completed toward the end of this week for you....I think you'll like it.
